Centennial High School

CHS opened its doors in the fall of 2010 with only 750 students. Today we have over 1700 students and offer a wide range of classes designed to meet the needs of today's learners.

There are several reasons that attendance is a primary focus of any school. The primary factor is that attendance has a direct correlation to achievement. When students are not in class, they cannot learn the material being taught. Over time, absences can add up and may cause a student to lose credit for the class either by not passing the course or by missing more than the State allows. We hope that everyone will make attendance at school a priority.

AVID Information

AVID applications for the 2017-2018 school year are now available for Freshman and Sophomores! During the AVID Elective class, students learn how to take notes, test-taking strategies, time management and proper study skills. Students explore college and career options while working with WICOR strategies (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading). All AVID students maintain the AVID binder, which holds all of their materials from all of their classes. Field trips to colleges start in the freshman year and continue throughout the program. In the junior year, students prepare for the SAT and ACT in the classroom and begin filling out college applications. The senior year helps students apply for college and scholarships as well as introduces them to college like assignments and activities.

You can pick up an AVID Application in the College and Career Center today.

Please contact Mrs. Pair at spair@bisdmail.net or Ms. Riley at brittany.riley@bisdmail.net if you have any questions.
