Join Our Vision 2025 Committee

For the past 5 years, our strategic plan, Vision 2020, has guided the work of our district. With our goals accomplished, we will create a new plan, Vision 2025. Below is a short video summarizing our work these past 5 years.

District 103 Vision

I am seeking a new visioning committee of staff, parents, students and community members to help set the new vision for the district. The first part of the work will be to define what we want our students to look like when they graduate from D103. This “Portrait of a Graduate” will help define the second part of creating how we reach that vision through the new strategic plan. The committee will meet six times this year on the following dates and times:

  • Sunday, November 3 (12-3 p.m.)
  • Thursday, December 12 (6-9 p.m.)
  • Thursday, January 9 (6-9 p.m.)
  • Thursday, January 30 (6-9 p.m.)
  • Sunday, March 8 (12-5 p.m.)
  • Thursday, March 12 (6-9 p.m.)

If you are interested in being a part of this important committee, please complete this short form by Monday, October 28 at 5:00 p.m. You will be notified by Wednesday, October 30 if you will be part of the committee.

Soccer Champs

The Daniel Wright boys' soccer team finished the season undefeated and were named conference champions. The team has won the championship game four of the last five years!

Anti-Bullying Anti-Drug Poster Winners

As part of Red Ribbon Week, students designed posters around anti-bullying and anti-drug messages. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October. Please visit the school's Facebook page to view the posers that were selected. Poster winners were:
  • Chloe Kim, eighth-grade
  • Aditi Bhatia, seventh-grade

  • Layla Nardini, sixth-grade

Picture Retake Day

Picture retake day is Wednesday, Oct. 30 beginning at 8:40 a.m. on the cafeteria stage. If you are unhappy with your child's picture and would like to have it retaken, you must return the original package in its entirety (except for the class picture). The original package will be handed to the photographer when the new picture is taken.

If your child was absent and did not have a photo taken, please download the form from the DW School News website page and bring it to the photographer along with payment (check, credit card or exact cash).

D.C. Trip Deadline Extended

There is still time for students to join their classmates on the Washington, D.C. trip taking place Feb. 28 to March 2, 2020. The deadline to register for this trip is now Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Reminders

  • Halloween Guidelines: Students and staff may wear Halloween costumes to school on Thursday, Oct. 31. Because we want this to be a fun and safe experience for everyone, we ask that anyone wearing a Halloween costume adhere to a few long-standing school rules. Please see the school news bulletin for details.

  • Join us for coffee with Principal Blackley from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28 if your child is new to Daniel Wright. Please click on the Google Form to register.
  • Daniel Wright is seeking veterans who are willing to speak to small groups of students about their experience of serving in the military. The event will take place on Monday, Nov. 11. Please reach out to Kristine Rickert at krickert@d103.org if you have someone in mind.
