Quarter 2 starts November 15th

Quarter 2 brings a fresh start with a new grading period and some new classes. Schedules are available to view now on Student Portal. Tomorrow in period 1, students will get a paper copy of their schedule to have as well.

Now is the time for students to reflect on how they did Quarter 1 and think about goals for Quarter 2.

New for Quarter 2- Cell Phone Expectations

Coming back from digital learning, we knew that students would need time to adjust to being with people and that it would be difficult to let go of their attachment to their cell phones. Because of this, we were more relaxed on enforcing our cell phone expectations.

As we start Quarter 2, we're reminding students of these expectations.

Below are the basics. Click on the link if you would like to read the rationale for these expectations.

Our expectations around cell phone use:

  1. Adults are in charge of the teaching and safety in spaces they lead.

    1. If the use of your cell phone becomes a barrier to teaching, learning or safety, adults have the responsibility to request you put your phone away.

    2. If you do not follow this reasonable request or your phone becomes a barrier again, the adult will request that the device be stored with the adult for the remainder of the period, or the main office for the remainder of the day. Family will be contacted.

    3. If your cell phone misuse becomes a pattern, or you continually defy reasonable requests, a family conference will be required and a behavior contract will be put in place.

  2. Making phone calls or receiving phone calls are only permitted in the school office and with the permission of an adult. You should not take or make phone/video calls on devices during class, passing time or lunch.

    1. If you take or make phone or video calls on devices during class, passing time or lunch you will be referred to administration. Families will be contacted.

    2. If you continue to make or take calls on devices during class, passing time or lunch, a family conference will be required and a behavior contract will be put in place.

We are asking you to not only review these expectations but also to help out by not texting or contacting your student during the school day. In the event of an emergency, please call the main office, 651-292-3480 and we will get a message to your student as soon as possible. If a student needs to contact a parent, they can ask for a pass to use the phone in the office.

Family/Teacher Conferences November 18th OR November 23rd

Families, be sure to check your email. Your student's Daily Connect teacher has emailed you invitations to conferences.

We are holding in-person on November 18th or virtual on November 23rd. Conferences are by appointment and families can choose whichever format or day works best for them.

I apologize for the delay in students getting lockers. But good news, lockers are coming next week! Once students have them, they will be expected to keep their outerwear in them.

Help Shape our Future: Become Part of the Solution

We're bringing together groups of students, staff and families to share ideas on ways to celebrate our students and also ways to repair our community when it has been harmed.
