Parent-Teacher Conferences

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Today report cards from our first quarter will be sent home with your child. Please take time during this week to go over your child's grades and comments and jot down any questions or concerns you have. Next week, when you are meeting with your child's teacher, you will have the opportunity to speak in person to clarify those questions or concerns you have.

Another important piece of information regarding your child's progress is the NWEA report that was shared via Parent Square on October 14th. This report has important information regarding your child's academic growth. Teachers will also be discussing that information at parent-teacher conferences. Please take the time to sign up for a conference time on November 2nd with your child's teacher if you have not yet done so.

In partnership,

Michelle Hellwege

Saylor Elementary Principal

Halloween Parties

This Friday, October 29 we will be having parties in our classrooms to celebrate Halloween. Students will NOT be wearing costumes on Friday, but will be celebrating with games, a Halloween craft and snacks/drinks which are being provided by our PSO. Students may get in the spirit by wearing black and orange, but since our parties aren't until the afternoon, and we do not hold a costume parade, costumes should not be worn to school that day. We are looking forward to a fun afternoon! Thank you Paul Saylor PSO for supporting our Halloween celebration!

Classroom Birthday Celebrations

We have had some parents bring party treats such as cupcakes or donuts for their child's birthday. Please remember that Portage Township Schools follow Healthy Snacks Guidelines. If you would like to send in birthday treats, here are some healthy snack ideas:

100 calorie snack packs, cereal bars, Nutrigrain Bars, chewy granola bars, Chex mix snack packs, popcorn, pretzels, fruit snacks, cheez-its snack packs, rice crispy treats.

Another good idea is themed pencils and erasers.

Thank you for following these guidelines!
