It has been a pleasure to have students in the building and seeing them with their classmates! Students did a wonderful job of adjusting to the new requirements. It was a great week at NRMS! A BIG THANKS to our North parents for your understanding and cooperation of the new guidelines and procedures.

EARLY RELEASE WEDNESDAY
Next Wednesday, September 23rd is our first *early release day of the school year. School will begin at the same time with the same safety measures, but students will be released at 12:00. Lunch will be provided to all students before they leave the building following the same lunch protocols as a typical school day. District buses will be running normal routes following these times.

10/21/20, 11/18/20, 1/20/21, 3/24/21, 4/28/21
*This early release time allows our teachers valuable collaboration time to make improvements to the curriculum for students.

Hand2Hand
We would like to offer your student the opportunity to participate in a program at North Rockford Middle School called “Hand2Hand”. This program helps provide a student with food for the weekends and is intended for families who currently may be experiencing a financial burden.

ATHLETICS
Spectator passes were given to student athletes and are required for admission to all NRMS athletic events. Masks are mandatory.

Volleyball note: The gym will be cleared (and sanitized) between games. Therefore, if you will be attending the 2nd game, you will not be allowed to enter until 5 PM.
A FEW REMINDERS........
STUDENT DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP
STUDENT DROP OFF TIMES are between 7:15 a.m. to 7:35 a.m.
PARENT PICK-UP TIME is 2:15 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE: Doors do not open until 7:15 am this year. Parents, please use the student drop-off area when dropping off your student before school and/or picking them up after school. Our parent drop-off area is located off from Lincoln Street.
Please see the attached letter from NRMS Security about our drop-off and pick-up procedures. The entrance off from Division St. in front of the building is only used if a student has to leave for an appointment during the school day.

TEXTBOOKS AND LAPTOPS
As we are not assigning lockers at this time, students should leave their textbooks at home. All textbooks are available during class in a digital format within Schoology. Students are required to bring their laptop and charging cord to school each day.
SAFETY EXPECTATIONS
Below are the three main safety practices students are expected to adhere to at NRMS:
- All students are required to wear an appropriate face covering at all times during the school day, regardless if students are inside or outside.
- Students will utilize hand sanitization stations when entering and leaving areas within the building.
- Students are expected to social distance is as best they can during the school day.
- At this time 3rd party food items (ie Starbucks, Biggby, McDonalds's), cannot be dropped off or carried into the building by students. Students ARE allowed to bring water bottles.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to welcome visitors into our building at this time. If you need to contact the office for anything, please call (616) 863-6300.
ATTENDANCE
If your child needs to leave early, please call the main office at (616) 863-6300 or send them to school with a note and time of pick-up. When you arrive to pick-up your child, please enter the vestibule at the main entrance to sign your child out. Visitors are unable to access the main office at this time.
