Information about Union Springs High School

A note from Mr. Dentel

The first edition of the "Wolfpack News" had 646 views in three weeks. Our feedback was positive, and participation in our early school events was overwhelming. As I write this, I am getting ready to take in a volleyball and a soccer match. I can hear the sounds of the Middle School play, and there is a sense of normalcy at Union Springs High School.

Even with these positives, we know we still have students who struggle with Mental Health. Our counselor team met this week to discuss how we can support our students who are still struggling with transitioning to high school or with a myriad of issues. Common themes in our conversations are school/home communication, the culture and climate of the school, and building positive, healthy relationships. We ask that you reach out to us if there are changes that you are noticing with your student.

Our mid-marking period ended on September 23rd, and ineligible students will receive a letter. A student becomes ineligible if they fail two or more classes or the same class twice in a row. ALL INELIGIBLE STUDENTS MUST STAY WITH THE TEACHER TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY until they get signed off. If you have concerns about grades, please reach out to the counselors so they can assist you.

ENJOY THE WOLFPACK NEWS!

Pep Rally and Spirit Week

Last week was spirit week. Many of our students participated each day, showing their school spirit. The week ended with our Pep Rally, where we acknowledged our fall sports teams and had fun. Students competed class vs. class in bubble soccer, musical chairs, mummy wrapping, sundae eating, and a tug of war. Our student government led the event, and our students had a blast! I encouraged 9th and 10th graders to get involved in student government to help continue to grow our school connectedness. If your student is interested, they should contact Mr. Fabian.

ORENDA SPRINGS

On the 29th, we brought 53 9th graders to Orenda Springs. The students had an opportunity to problem solve, work in teams, practice positive communication, and, most of all, have fun. The counselors at Orenda Springs took the students through a series of activities that challenged them to work together and, in many cases, persevere through some high-up challenges. Most of the students' positive reactions included being told it was "super fun". Below are some of the pictures captured.
