Knight-Line News
V2 #17
Notes from the Principal...
The UCS Pathways to Success event was a huge success! Thank you to the 6th grade families who attended! There was so much information about future opportunities for our students that hopefully was useful!
If you have a child who will be starting Young 5's or kindergarten in the Fall, please see the information below about enrolling your child below. Young 5's/Kindergarten Open House is March 1st, more information to come in the near future.
In school news, the NWEA testing continues until January 27th. A previous newsletter contains information on how you can access your child's NWEA scores through PowerSchool.
As a reminder, there is no left turn when exiting the parking lot during arrival and dismissal. Turning left has a negative impact on the flow of the parking lot. Thank you!
Our Mid-Year Conferences will be held on February 9th from 4:30-7:30pm. Conferences are requested by the teacher or parent based on student need. A form will be coming home from your child's teacher soon with information on the teacher's request and an opportunity for parents to request a conference. Conferences are held one evening and can be completed in person or virtual.
Cold Weather Clothing
Students go out for recess, even when it's cold! Please be sure to send your child with proper warm weather clothing. And, please, please be sure to put your child's name or initials on them! When we find items of clothing around the building, we want to return them, if names or initials are in the items, it makes it much easier!!
If you child is in need of a new winter coat and getting one is a financial burden for you or your family, please email me!
With gratitude,
Mary Beth Rizzo

Parking Lot
The parking lot at Monfort can be a challenge, especially at the start of school.
It takes everyone working together and a bit of patience to keep the flow of traffic in the lot. There will be one adjustment made this year, with the intention of helping with the ease and flow of traffic.
Please read and look at the maps carefully...
New Parking Lot Sign
This year, we will be adding to the sign at the exit of the parking lot.
The new sign will say:
NO LEFT TURN
8:45-9:15am
4:00 - 4:30pm
Added this year is no left turn out of the parking lot in the afternoon. The reason why there is no left turn is because there are cars turning in and busses/cars parked on the road, which limits the flow of traffic on Montgomery. When parents cannot turn left out of the parking lot because of parked cars and cars pulling in, the flow of traffic stops.
Now, with no left turn and all cars turning right out of the parking lot, the flow will hopefully get better.
If you are not sure how to get out of the sub when turning right, we can help with that! Please see the picture below. There are several streets that will take you out of the lot. Please see below.

Please note:
Traffic flow is one way
No Stopping or parking in the bus lane
2022/2023 UCS Employment
Below is a link to the Utica Community Schools employment page. Our district is still looking to fill many employment positions throughout the district. At Monfort, we are in need of Paraprofessionals for our CORE program and we also need lunch supervisors. As a whole, we are still in need of bus drivers, as there is still a national shortage.

Medication at School
Any child who needs to have medication administered at school will need to have completed medial forms on file for each medication. This includes over-the-counter medications, such as Tylenol/Advil, cough drops, allergy medication, and others.
Children may not bring any medication to school, including allergy medication, without signed medical forms on file. Please do not send medication to school in your child's backpack, such as inhalers, EpiPen, or over-the-counter medications as they will be asked to keep the medication in the office for parents to pick up. If your child needs to have medication in their backpack per Doctor recommendation, UCS requires the completed medical form to be on file with the office.
PTO
Our PTO is such an important part of our school! The monthly meetings are a great way for parents to be connected to our school and build our community!
