Growth in ZCS with Dr. Scott Robison
Dear Eagle Elementary Parents—
The important topic of redistricting is always part of enrollment growth discussions. Please join us at Eagle Elementary on March 27 to discuss our facilities needs as a result of continuing enrollment growth. We will meet from 6:30-8:00 PM in the cafeteria.
Please register to attend at:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Eagle2019(Free child care will be provided for children who are toilet trained and three years-of-age or older, but you must register for that, too!) I need parents to be aware of the facilities needs, redistricting implications, and funding information related to our enrollment growth in ZCS.
Thank you for your consideration of this important community forum in the life of ZCS.
Sincerely,
Scott Robison, Superintendent

Anne Frank: A History for Today
The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis (JFGI) have partnered with the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect (NYC) to bring to Indianapolis their exhibit, “Anne Frank: A History for Today.” The 32 panel exhibit will be displayed at ZCHS until the end of March in the lobby of our Performing Arts Center. The panels tell the story of Anne Frank and her life in the secret annex. We are honored to have the opportunity to join the group of community centers, schools and universities, arts organizations, libraries and museums all around the world who have hosted this display.
We are offering community viewings on Tuesday, March 12th from 9:00 – 11:00 am and Wednesday, March 13th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Docents will be available during these times to answer questions about the panels. Our community members can park by the ZCHS Performing Arts Center and enter through Door 8. Please contact Kris Devereaux, Chief Academic Officer, with any questions at kdevereaux@zcs.k12.in.us.

A huge thank you to all the Eagle families and staff who helped with and attended Eagle Extravaganza! It was a success: Faces were painted, games were played, pizza was consumed, the cake walk was walked, and (even though Miss Jackson, who was covered in silly string by the end may disagree) a good time was had by all. Want to help next year? Email dave.and.gretchen@gmail.com

A Note from the Nurse
It has been a long winte! Hopefully, we are on the tail end of this cold and flu season. It seems we are not quite our of the woods yet so we would like to review some illness management guidelines for both home and school.
- Children should remain home if they have a fever (100 F or above), vomiting, diarrhea or unable to manage profuse nasal drainage.
- Frequent hand washing – hands should be washed often with soap and water, especially after coughing and sneezing.
- Reinforce good respiratory etiquette – cover your nose and mouth when coughing/sneezing – practice with your children.
- When notifying the school that your child is ill, please give a reason/symptoms – this helps us to identify patterns and focus on specific classrooms for more aggressive monitoring and parent notification if needed.
- Students can return to school if they are fever free without medication and have been on antibiotic therapy (if indicated) for 24 hours, are feeling well, eating, drinking and back to their regular routine.
- Dress for the cold weather – this means students should be wearing coats to and from school.
Speak to your school nurse if you have questions specific to your child.

Buddy Up Fun Night
It’s time for the 12th annual ZCHS Best Buddies Buddy Up Fun Night. The Best Buddies Club encourages friendship between general and special education students. Open to all 1st-4th grade elementary students without intellectual disabilities and 5th-8th grade students with an intellectual disability. This fee covers pizza, beverages, snacks, lifeguards, pool rental, and t-shirt (if registered by 3/5). All proceeds from Buddy Up Fun Night go to the ZCHS Best Buddies Club.
