Classroom News!
We are slowly winding down our rich study of wild bears and teddy bears. We had tons of fun doing adding and subtracting using Teddy Grahams as counters.
This week we focused on the Teddy Bear; how and when it originated. We read a wonderful book, "The Legend of the Teddy Bear" by Frank Murphy. We learned about Rose and Morris Mitchom who created and sewed the first teddy bears by hand.
At Writer's Workshop time we discussed what we tell ourselves when we confront something really hard - such as sounding out words. We read "The Little Engine That Could" and now we know that we can tell ourselves "I think I can. I think I can. I think I can."
Important Happening!
Wednesday January 31st is Teddy Bear Day !
