Magic Workshop Assembly: Grades K-2
With this in mind, we are excited to be hosting a magic workshop assembly on Thursday, December 3rd at 11:30 am for grades K-2.
If your child would like to try the magic tricks at home or be featured trying a trick on screen during the show, here is a list of household items that will be used to perform the tricks if you would like to help them prepare in advance:
- A banana (or dinner roll or piece of soft fruit), a fork and a cloth napkin, bandana or paper towel
- A ziplock bag and a pair of scissors
- A brown paper lunch bag or small paper bag and piece of candy
- Crayons
- A deck of cards and scissors
- A quarter
More virtual assemblies for other grades are in the works!
At Northwood, we follow Pennsylvania’s state laws on truancy. The same laws apply whether we are virtual, hybrid, or fully in-school. This is the attendance policy:
- If your child is not logged on to the class Zoom, this will be marked as an unexcused absence. Parents must submit a note to the school within three days to excuse the absence.
- At the 3rd unexcused absence, a legal truancy notice will be sent to you, the parent/guardian, via email and postal mail.
- At the 6th unexcused absence, the school will contact the parent/guardian in an effort to set up an attendance meeting. In the meeting, we will discuss the causes of the attendance issue and come up with a plan to help remove any barriers to the student’s attendance.
- At the 10th unexcused absence, a truancy referral should be submitted to the Office of Attendance & Truancy. For grades K-3, a Department of Human Services (or DHS) referral will be submitted. For grades 4-8th, a referral to Family Court will be submitted.
Our school staff values your child’s education, and I know you do too. Please make sure your child is logged on to Zoom at 8:30am Monday through Thursday. Friday’s asynchronous work is also counted towards your child’s attendance.
