A Message From Mrs. Nichols
Happy Friday!
I'm not sure why, but to me short weeks seem crazier than full weeks. I always look forward to a long weekend, but then I feel like I'm playing catch-up the rest of the week! It's hard to believe that we're about to enter our last week of February!
I need to take a moment for a Proud Principal Brag Session! Our Lego League just competed in the Regional First LEGO League competition in Winter Haven and got the second place award for their project! I've watched this special group of kiddos work every Thursday after school. I'm so proud of their accomplishment and so thankful to the wonderful coaches who helped them along the way!
We're right at the last nine weeks of school. I want to urge all of you to encourage your children to hang in there! Spring Break is coming! This is the time of year that students get tired, their tempers get short and some begin to let their work slide. This is part of building “grit” in our children, I’ll write more about that another week. We all have times that we have to dig deep to get through a challenge. Building perseverance is a gift we can give our children that will last a lifetime!
Finally, I'd like to remind you of our Spirit Attire guidelines. Students are not permitted to wear bottoms that are leggings or any kind of printed pants, skirts, or shorts. Students should wear jeans, denim shorts, uniform bottoms, or navy or khaki bottoms. Black or gray leggings are permitted UNDER regular uniform bottoms. Like I mentioned earlier, I know that at the end of the school year, it's hard to fight those battles with our children. However, this is important. I'll try to do my part in helping you out by talking to the students in chapel next week.
Book Character Dress Up Day
To honor our beloved Dr. Seuss, on Friday, March 1, our students are invited to dress up like their favorite book character. During our group chapel on Friday, students will get to walk across the stage with their class to show off their attire. Please be mindful that students are not allowed to wear Halloween costumes, anything that promotes violence, or have their faces covered. Feel free to join us at 8:10 in the auditorium.
