November 17-21, 2014

Happy Thanksgiving

I will send out a special "Thanksgiving Edition" newsletter early next week that will feature this weeks Thanksgiving activities!

We are getting closer to our iPad goal with just a little more than $100 left to raise

With as little as $7 per student, we could have enough money to purchase an iPad for our classroom. Please go online and donate, ANY amount is helpful. You can send your donation to our classroom or make an online donation at:

http://www.donorschoose.org/project/ipad-for-ikinders/1250913

I have made my donation, have you? Together we can make a difference in YOUR child's education.

Next Academic Parent Teacher Team Meeting - APTT - December 9th

Our next APTT class meeting will be December 9th at 5:30. Please be sure to attend or send someone in your place to represent your child. I'm looking forward to sharing the progress your child has made in "describing." I will also go over the next skill of "sorting and analyzing" and ways you can help your child at home.

Thanksgiving Feast this Wednesday

The Kindergarten Pilgrims and Native Americans of Ruth Hill will celebrate the first Thanksgiving with a classroom feast. Please be sure to send in your child's permission form and $2 donation.

Highlights from Show and Tell

This will be the last week that we present our Show and Tell items. The students have come a long way in learning how to notice details and verbally communicate those details. Below Jayden is describing a container, Jaylen is describing a tube of toothpaste and Janiyah her nabi2.

Getting Ready for Thanksgiving

We have started our Thanksgiving unit and we spent this week learning about the New World's Native Americans. We learned that they made their clothes out of animal skins, that they used pictures as a form of written communication, and most of all, they were very helpful to the Pilgrims.

November's STEM Project

Our STEM project for this month was the 48 cup challenge. Students were to work in teams to see who could create the tallest tower out of 48 paper cups. If you remember, STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. One component of the STEM projects that I enjoy is the "planning" stage. This stage requires the students to meet before the project begins to plan out their strategy for completing the task.
