Landscape Poland Forest and Mountains
Poland is a big country and has a lot of diversity in terms of landscape. You will find many mountain regions for example the Tatra, Pieniny, Bieszczady, Beskidy Mountains and the Giant Mountains.
Tatra Mountains
The Tatra Mountains is located in the south of Poland and is the highest mountain in Poland. The highest point of the mountain light at 2499 meters. The tourist capital is Zakopane. In winter, this is the ski resort of Poland.
Bieszczady Mountains
The Bieszczady are located in the extreme southeast of Poland at 1450 km from Netherlands. This area is a haven of peace. Rest seekers are at home here. The mountains are not that high. The highest peak is 1346 meters.
National Parks in Poland
Poland has more than 20 National Parks. Many of these parks are also included in the UNESCO list of world heritage. Here are a couple of them:
Bialowieza National Park
The oldest and also as the most famous National Park in Poland. It is located in the east of Poland on the border with Belarus. Bialowieza is the only remaining primeval forest in Europe. Therefore, the park was added in 1992 to UNESCO's list of world heritage.
Babiagorski Park Naradowy
This park is located in southern Poland. Near the border with Slovakia. The park covers an area of about 1734 hectares. In the area you will find the remnants of the Carpathian primeval forest.
Biebrza National Park
Biebrza National Park is the largest National Park in Poland. It lies in the northeast of Poland and has an area of around 59,000 hectares. Nice detail of this park is that Biebrza is one example of how the original nature in large parts of the Netherlands earlier probably looked.
