Chatham County middle schools use STAR Reading and STAR Math tests throughout the year. These tests are short assessments, lasting on average 30 minutes, designed to provide learning data for teachers to provide the best instruction for each student. The tests are not for a grade, but students should do their best. Pollard students will be taking these tests over the next two weeks. Please see the schedule below for the date and time your student will take each test.
STAR Reading - Monday, September 14th, at 12:15
STAR Math - Monday, September 21st, at 12:15
STAR Reading - Tuesday, September 15th, at 12:15
STAR Math - Tuesday, September 22nd, at 12:15
STAR Reading - Thursday, September 17th, at 12:15
STAR Math - Thursday, September 24th, at 12:15
Your student will receive important information from his or her homeroom teacher about each test. This information will include the Zoom link for the test, as well as the username and password your student will need on the test date listed above. Please make sure your student joins his or her Zoom session.
It is very important that your student complete the tests independently, without any help from family members. This will ensure that teachers are able to plan lessons appropriately and that we are able to monitor the progress our students make through the curriculum. As your student works through the test, some of the questions will be easy for him or her, while others will be more challenging. The test is designed to assess a student’s ability, regardless of grade level placement. Everyone will likely miss some of the questions and/or see material they have not yet covered in school.
The following resources may be helpful for you to view prior to the test.

If you have any questions about these tests, please email Mr. Perlberg at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the school at 919-969-0070.
Returning Student Registration Forms
You may have received an email notice called "Chatham County School District - Returning Student Registration". We apologize for any confusion. This is the same form that we ask families to complete each year to verify contact information and other enrollment information. We understand this year, however, it seemed confusing since we are on remote learning. This form does not change your child's enrollment status. It only changes the fields that you identify as needing correction. Please work to fill out any changes for your family and submit by September 30th. We appreciate your attention to this effort, as this is an important step in ensuring we have the accurate information for necessary communications. If you have any questions about this process, please contact our Data Manager, Mayra Espinoza.
