A Note From the Principal
Dear NPE Families:
I want to start off by saying thank you for supporting NPE at our Starlit Sleighride with Santa event. We were all so sad that we were not able to have our historic Breakfast with Santa but I was overwhelmed at the positive feedback we got about this new event. Many people asked if this will become a new tradition here. I will answer with, "We will see what next year brings! Staff and PTO had to work very hard to accomplish all the decorating involved but it was clear everyone loved it."
I would also like to thank all of our community partners for the generous holiday contributions to our neediest families. Covid 19 has hit us hard but it is wonderful that we had so many generous people out there thinking about our students. Lets hope that the new year brings wellness to all.
Again, Thank you for all that you do to make Naples Park such a great place to learn.
Happy Holidays!

News from The Assistant Principal
Parents,
Dear Naples Park Families,
I want to thank each and every one of you that attended our Starlit Sleigh Ride with Santa! What a wonderful evening full of holiday cheer! Although it looked different than traditions in the past, our Naples Park staff was thrilled to still be able to come together and create memories for your family. As we move through the end 2020, we look forward to seeing all of the growth your child has made as quarter 2 comes to a close towards the end of January. All students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their academic growth by completing their second round of iReady testing the last week of January. In addition, our 3rd-5th grade students will also complete the Quarter 2 Benchmark testing during the week of January 11th. All students have been working hard this year, and we can’t wait to continue celebrating their success!
One additional reminder, as our weather begins to get chilly, please make sure you are dressing your child appropriately. Students may wear jackets, hoodies, hats, etc. while outdoors to stay warm. Also, please take the time to label these additional items your child is wearing to school. Many times they are left in areas throughout the school and if labeled we are able to return back to them!
I hope your family enjoys the upcoming break and has time to rest and relax. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the New Year!
Thank you for your support!
Alyssa Ledbetter
Breakfast at NPE is anytime before 8:10 AM
Parents please be reminded that if you would like you child to eat breakfast in the morning, prior going to class they should arrive to school no later than 8:00 am. This will allow them time to walk to the cafeteria, get breakfast, eat and arrive to class on time. Many students are arriving to school later than this time and it is causing them to be late to class. We appreciate your support with this matter.
News from the Naples Park PTO
Happy Winter, families!
We just want to thank everyone for all your help and donations in making our Starlit Sleigh Ride with Santa such a wonderful success. So many families let us know how much they enjoyed the evening. Giving our children a way to see Santa safely and have fun with their teachers was a wonderful way to start the month of December.
The Kindergarten Team won the decorating contest. As you can see from their picture, they really got into their Candy Land theme. Congratulations to all the staff for a job well done!
Counselor’s Corner
Counselor’s Corner:
During the months of November and December we focused on Gratitude. Students in 4th and 5th grade participated in a Gratitude Challenge where they were encouraged to write thank-you notes to members of their family, friends, and school staff.
On behalf of all Naples Park Sharks, I would like to give thanks to the many wonderful donations we received for our students and families this holiday season. Every year, NPE is blessed to have support of our community members to help deliver holiday cheer and 2020 was no exception. All the families expressed thanks and gratitude. One parent even said she hopes to be able to give back to others in the future. That is what it is all about. One act of kindness being passed on to others! What a great example to set for our students!
A special Thank You to the following individuals and organizations:
Ladies of Charity
Residents of Landmark Naples
Summit Church
The Auger Family
The Fletcher Family
I hope each of you have a wonderful winter break! See you in 2021.
Take Care,

Habit 3: Put First Things First
“Putting first things first means organizing and executing around your most important priorities. It is living and being driven by the principles you value most, not by the agendas and forces surrounding you.” -- DR. STEPHEN R. COVEY
This habit is where Habits 1 and 2 come together. It happens day in and day out, moment-by-moment. It deals with many of the questions addressed in the field of time management. But that’s not all it’s about. Habit 3 is about life management as well–your purpose, values, roles, and priorities. What are “first things?” First things are those things you, personally, find of most worth. If you put first things first, you are organizing and managing time and events according to the personal priorities you established in Habit 2.
Habit 3 activity: One-on-One Time with a Family Member
Go on a “date” or casual one-on-one activity with a family member. It does not need to be expensive. Ask what they would like to do, such as go for a walk, have a picnic, play a game, or work on a puzzle. Listen to them and affirm their worth and potential. Also, look for opportunities to have daily one-on-one times with family members.

Turning the Pages with Mrs. Szarek, our NPE Reading Coach
Hello Sharks,
Wow! Winter break is here. Your child can continue learning during vacation with I-Ready lessons. I would recommend NO MORE than 15 minutes per day of online instruction. We will make sure to celebrate their success when we return. If you need any help with IReady, please do not hesitate to contact me. I want to wish you all a safe winter break and a happy New Year.
Sincerely,
Darlene Szarek

Keep Flu Out of School
The best way to protect your child and your family during influenza season is to: Get vaccinated.
Keep sick family members home from school or work.
Contact your healthcare provider if you or your children are experiencing flu-like symptoms (common symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headache).
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth as much as possible.
Collier County Public Schools will NOT be offering school-based flu vaccine clinics this year. Please contact your child’s healthcare provider or the Collier County Health Department at 252-8595 for more information or to inquire about the availability of flu vaccine.
NPE Dress Code
Although our Naples Park students are not required to wear uniforms for the 2020-2021 school year, there still is a dress code to follow. Please review our new dress code below and ensure your child is dressed appropriately each day!
You may want to review:
Code of Student Conduct https://www.collierschools.com/Page/284
NPE will NO LONGER have a uniform policy, but instead will follow district policy. You can find the details online at:

REMEMBER: THE CELL PHONE LAW IS STILL IN EFFECT!
A new state law made texting while driving a primary offense as of July 1, 2019. ... The second part of the law takes that a step further, making it illegal to use a handheld cell phone while driving in a designated school crossing, school zone or active work zone area.
**Please remember this includes the drop off and pick up lines. We want to make sure all of our students and staff are safe when loading and unloading each day.
