Finding the price of taxes, mark ups, and tips
Taxes, mark ups, and tips are calculated by finding a percent of a number and adding it to the original number, it adds on to a bill.
Commission
Commission is the amount of money someone gets from a sale, for example car dealers and house realtors get commission.
Discounts
A percent took away from the original price, in forms such as, coupons, family discounts, and more.
Sales Tax and Mark-Ups(example)
Fred is the owner of a car dealer ship, he noticed that he wasn't making much profit lately, so he marked up the price $55. So instead of having to pay $3050 plus tax you now have to pay $4005 plus tax.
Tips (example)
Jimmy ate at the Olive Garden with his family, his bill was $65.99 and he gave the waiter a 5% tip.
In all jimmy payed $69.29. The waiter got an extra $3.30.
Discounts(example)
Martha likes to shop at SAMs club and she has a coupon for 50% off of a bag of chocolate that usually cost $22. She has to pay $11 in all.
Commission(example)
A car dealer sold a car for $10,000, he made 14% commission. He made $1,400.
