Principal's Message
Dear Niton Central School Community,
Today we are celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day. This day is a special occasion to learn more about the rich and diverse cultures, voices, experiences and histories of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples. Our school started the day with some delicious bannock. Thanks go to Miranda Morden, Leanne Deleeuw, and Carol Tymchuk (and their children) for preparing that. We followed bannock with a Land Acknowledgement and Oh Canada in Cree, after which our students participated in soapstone carving! In the afternoon our students were privileged to enjoy traditional dances from Ayden Pruden-Prince, Colleen and Jaylynn! Thank you to all three of you for sharing your dances with our staff, students, and guests.
With less than two weeks left to the end of the school year, the days are flying past with everything going on! While our Elementary trip to Rotary Park last week met with some uncooperative weather, the 7/8 year end trip to Jasper was enjoyed by all and our Grade 9's got a taste of life at Parkland Composite High School! Our Grade 9 Farewell Dance was well attended and a lot of fun! Thank you to the Cronin Family for donating pizza, and to Alyssa, Ryland, Olyvia, Andi , and Jayson for their time and energy organizing and decorating!
Looking to some end of year wrap up information, teachers will begin sending supplies home throughout the remaining days of the year. The last day of school is June 28th, when we will be hosting our Awards Day beginning at 10:00 A.M. We will also be sending report cards home with supply lists for next year!
Have a great week!
