---------SCHOOL NEWS---------

Congratulations to Ms. Gowan's 2nd Grade Class!

A special congratulations to Ms. Gowan's 2nd grade class for raising the most money during our Charleston Wraps fundraiser! They earned a pizza party that was held on October 20th. They even had a chance to "wrap" the flagpole at the front of the school! Congratulations 2nd Graders!
CELEBRATE BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
WHAT’S THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PINK RIBBON?
A pink ribbon is the international symbol of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In October 1992, SELF Magazine created a pink ribbon concept to symbolize the importance of breast cancer awareness. Later, SELF editor Alexandra Penney teamed up with cosmetics company Estée Lauder and their then vice president, Evelyn H. Lauder.
As a result, 1.5 million pink ribbons were distributed at Estée Lauder cosmetics counters worldwide. Then, Lauder, a breast cancer survivor, formed The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, which has raised more than $325 million for cancer research.
In addition to wearing a pink ribbon during the month of October, below are more ways to honor National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
- Organize a walk/run in support of NBCA Month.
- Collect scarves and hats you can donate to breast cancer patients.
- Post items that support NBCA Month on your social media pages.
- Encourage the women in your life to get a regular mammogram.
Anyone who needs more information about breast cancer or National Breast Cancer Awareness Month can visit www.cancer.org.
Pink OUT
Friday (October 29th) was Pink Out Day in Richland One! Teachers broke out those pink suits, pink dresses, pink shirts, pink pants, pink jackets, pink ties, pink shoes, pink socks, pink hats and other pink attire as a show of the district’s support and solidarity in the fight against breast cancer. Check out the pics of your Bobcat Fam rocking their pink!

Join the Fight!
Consider registering for the Walk for Life or Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon! (Pssst...its fully virtual!)
Walk for Life and Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon are Prisma Health Midlands Foundation signature fundraising events benefiting Prisma Health Breast Center in Columbia, S.C. For more than three decades, thousands of people have helped raise more than $11 million to fund the latest in digital mammography technology and enhance programs and services for breast cancer patients and their families. Proceeds from the 2021 event will fund a 10th 3D mammography unit for Prisma Health Breast Center.
Register now through October 31st to walk or run in your favorite, safe place and invite your friends (including the furry ones!) as we take steps against breast cancer together. Your registration will include a shirt. Half marathon registrants will receive a finisher’s medal. Breast cancer survivors will be honored with a survivor’s bandana. Click here to begin your registration!
HAPPY NATIONAL PRINCIPAL'S MONTH!
The Bobcat Family would like to say a special THANK YOU to our principal, Mrs. LaQuana Aldridge, for her commitment to excellence and for her support of the Bobcat faculty, staff, students, and families! Thank you for always giving your best and for your dedicated leadership to the A.C. Moore community!

Pawmetto Lifeline Animal Shelter & Harvest Hope Food Drive

Ms. Wright's 3rd grade ELA class is doing an altruism project to go along with their most recent novel study. During the month of October, they will be collecting canned goods for Harvest Hope Food Bank and pet items (new or gently used) for Pawmetto Animal Shelter. We welcome all families to donate!

Q & A Flu and COVID-19 Vaccines

Prisma Health is helping protect you and your family with free flu shots throughout the Midlands. The flu shot is available for anyone six months and older. Flu shots will be administered by drive-through access with limited capacity to provide vaccines outside of the vehicle for children, if needed. Flu shots at Prisma Health, Nine Medical Park, will be administered outside the first floor lobby area every Wednesday and Thursday in October, 3–6 p.m. Please wear loose fitting clothing that can easily roll up to assist with vaccines. Face masks or shields will be required. Consent forms are required and available at each site. Children under the age of 16 require a parent/guardian signature. Flu shots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
For more information, visit PrismaHealth.org/FreeFluShots.
