PEEP #2: How can you show RESPECT for the members of your classroom?
First Outdoor Classroom Build Party was a Success!
We had a great turnout for the first Outdoor Classroom build party last weekend. Six amazing planter boxes were built! In addition to building the planter boxes, we also touched up the handball wall poles. This is what the DADS Group is about: DADS with TOOLS building a legacy that our kids and future penguins will enjoy! Special thanks to Ryan Broley for picking up all the lumber and doing the prep work; and all the kids who helped with the build and campus cleanup. Here are pictures from that day: https://photos.app.goo.gl/735WgRyc8PkbUJVWA .
Our next build party is on Sunday Feb 10, 8:00am to 12:00pm. Please sign up to help finish the poles, build a ramp, and possibly lay down some pavers. No experience necessary! Sign Up:
Jog-a-thon Packets
Jog-a-thon packets were sent home today, and we hope you will take some time to look over your packet. Students are being asked to reach out to family members, relatives, family friends and acquaintances for financial support as they pledge to run for their health on Tuesday, February 12. The pledge amount is a flat donation, and it can be anywhere from $5, $20, to $100 or more -- every dollar adds up! Some employers offer corporate matching, doubling your contribution. Collection envelopes are due to your classroom teachers by Tuesday, February 12. ONLINE DONATIONS will be accepted using this link - http://parkvillagefoundation.com/jog-a-thon-2/. Help support Science with Mrs Nellies, Music with Miss LaDow, PE with Coach Mills, Art with Mrs Hirst, Technology, and community programs at PV!
Math Rocks!
We are happy to introduce Math Rocks to all 3-5 grade students. This program will help and support our needs to become better "problem solver" - a skill that helps individuals to solve complex problems. Please see the details of this program.
1) We will have morning (7:45-8:45am) and evening (6:15-7:15pm) math coaching sessions every week. It will be held every Monday. Initially there will be no homework.
2) A nominal fee ($20/month) will be paid for this program. Math Olympiads students will get priority over other students. Other students from 3-5 grades can apply too. It will be first come first served basis. We can accommodate total of eighty (80) students. Fee waivers will be given to qualified students.
3) We will do trial coaching for next four (4) months, February-May, 2019. Start date - Monday, February 4. Parent and High School Student volunteers will help coach the classes. We will bring outside help if needed.
4) We will divide students into two homogeneous groups based on their Math Olympiads accumulative and a diagnostic test score(s). Each slots (morning & evening) will have two sessions.
5) If you are interested, please send an email request by Thursday, January 31. Please state your preference "morning or evening" session. Send your request to shivkeyal@gmail.com
6) You can pay every month. By cash or check (payable to Nuptse Foundation). You pay when your child first comes to class and there after every month.
7) Additional questions? Please text @ (858) 999-7274. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.

Donate Your Outgrown Children’s Books and Support the Library
Are your shelves overflowing with books that your kids have outgrown or don’t want to read? The school library would love to have them. The library will add the donations to the collection, sell them as a fundraiser, or offer them to teachers for their classroom libraries. It’s a great way to reduce your clutter and recycle!
The library accepts children’s books that are in good condition and are age-appropriate for kindergarten to fifth grade students. Young adult or adult books will not be accepted. Place your donations in the collection box by the library door. Thank you for supporting the school library!
