Thank You!
Thank you for attending Back to School Night!
I appreciated the opportunity to share with you the vision and goals of our school. It is an honor to be a part of such a supportive community of parents and teachers.
I would like to give a special thanks to the H.S.A. and M.E.F. for their participation and ongoing support.
Growth Mindset
At Back to School Night, we discussed the importance of growth mindset. With a growth mindset, individuals feel more comfortable to take risks, make mistakes, and focus on the process, not solely the outcome.
At home to foster a growth mindset, you can:
- Encourage your child to take on new challenges at school
- Praise your child for not how fast or easy they learn something, but for the amount of time and effort they put forth into learning it
- Communicate with the teacher on what your child can work on to challenge them
- Focus on the importance of effort and perseverance in any extracurricular activities
The Week of Respect is Here!
October 1st to October 5th is the Week of Respect at Normandy Park School. The week of respect is celebrated throughout New Jersey.
We recognize the importance of character education and provide age-appropriate instruction focusing on the prevention of harassment, intimidation, and bullying.
During the Week of Respect, students will participate in theme days to celebrate our united stand against bullying. In addition, we will have an all school assembly, 3 Screens: Let's Be Friends (sponsored by the HSA). Through movie clips, videos of real life stories, music, and sports action on three giant screens, children learn how to counter bullying with positive action. Children will learn four words and associated behaviors that make them healers (learning an acronym for HEAL).
During the week, students will take a kindness pledge. We will create a school-wide banner to show our united stand against bullying.
