Scholarship deadlines that have passed or from last year will be updated as new information is given. Scholarships are grouped into Local/SC, National, and College Specific. They will be entered in deadline order. Please also check Class of 2023 Canvas Announcements as some scholarships will be highlighted often. Email Dr. C with scholarship questions. scocchiaro@rhmail.org. Remember to keep a copy of all scholarship offers even if you do not accept the offer (college and outside scholarships). We will ask for you to submit that documentation at the end of the year to be included with your graduating class's total scholarship earnings.

SC State Fair Scholarship

Eligibility: High school seniors attending a public or private school or homeschool. The student must be planning to attend a public or private university or college or technical college in the state of South Carolina. The fifty scholars will be required to meet eligibility requirements deemed necessary by the South Carolina State Fair.

Amount: (50) $6,000 scholarships to students who will be paid $1,500 per year over a four-year period.

The Michael A DeMayo Arrive Alive Scholarship: 2023

Eligibility: Must be a current high school senior who attends school and lives in the following counties: York, Chester, Union, Cherokee, Lancaster, Chesterfield, Marlboro and Dillon. Students must have been accepted for a full-time enrollment or planning to pursue a degree at an accredited four-year college or university. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and submit SAT/ACT scores. Must complete essay, brochure or TikTok that encourages fellow teens to abstain from underage drinking and driving, and distracted driving.

Amount: 15 individual scholarships at $2,500

James Brett Ringer Scholarship

Eligibility: Desired qualities: works hard to accomplish goals and complete tasks. Exhibits good character. Is well rounded in academics and extra-curricular or volunteer activities. Exhibits loyalty. Works unselfishly with others.

2022-23 Dallas Hirst Lumpkin Scholarship

Eligibility: 1. be a graduating senior from a Rock Hill, S.C. public high school planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university. 2. Show financial need. 3. A solid scholastic record: B average and/or upper 25% of the class. 4. possess qualities of leadership, character, and a genuine concern for others. 5. Submit your official high school transcript and up to two letters of recommendation from someone other than a family member with a completed application to the guidance office.

Eligibility: Female, U.S. Citizen, York County Resident, graduating high school senior or enrolled in a York County college, accepted and committed to attend a South Carolina College of University as a full-time student, completed application, two letters of recommendation, and a 1,000-1,500 word essay on the given topic.

Alpha Alpha Gamma Psi Christian Sorority, Inc. 2023 Zeta Epsilon Scholarship

American Legion National Oratorical Contest

Eligibility: The National High School Oratorical Contest is open to junior high and high school students who are under the age of 20 and citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States. You must prepare an oration on some aspect of the U.S. Constitution, with some emphasis on the duties and obligations of citizens to our government. Each individual state winner certified into and participating in the first round of the national contest receives an additional $1,500 scholarship.

The SC Teacher Loan Program was established by the State of South Carolina to help talented and qualified students become teachers. Students can borrow up to $2,500 per year in their freshman and sophomore years and $5,000 per year in their junior and senior years. The loan is 100% forgivable if the recipient teaches in certain critical geographic or subject areas in South Carolina. Eligibility: The Silver Pen Writing Competition is open to all high school seniors who live or attend school within 25 miles of Wellmore of Tega Cay. 2022 Brother Professor Prentiss Hough Essay Scholarship Competition

Eligibility: Any African American male in a York, Chester, or Lancaster County school district with a GPA of 2.5. Complete a 400-750 word essay on: "What have you completed or what will you do to make this world a better place"

Amount: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finalists will be selected by a panel of judges and given monetary awards valued at $750, $500, $250, and $125 respectively.

Sheriff's Foundation of York County

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in a public or private school in York County. Must have a minimum of a B average, must be accepted by an accredited college or university for the academic year of 2021-2022. Must be a US citizen. Must submit a high school transcript, letter of acceptance, letter of recommendation, and submit an essay. Applicants must intend to pursue a law enforcement-related area of study, this includes criminal justice, detention/corrections, forensic science, criminology, social work, etc.

TCGC College Scholarship: The Tri-County Golf Club Foundation

Eligibility: Must have a permanent residency, and must attend one of the three high schools in South Carolina: Chester, Lancaster or York County. Must type an essay (300-500 words), two letters of recommendation which one needs to be from a school official, at least a 3.0 GPA, official transcript, an acceptance letter to the university or college you will attend, documented proof of community service hours (at least 40).

The James "Peanut" Douglas Spirit of the Community Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a Rock Hill High School, minority senior who exhibits exemplary leadership and service in their own community.

Eligibility: Must be a minority senior graduating from Rock Hill School District, have at least a 3.0 GPA, have been an active member or leader of a school or community organization, have verifiable volunteer experiences of at least 75 hours within the last year.
