Eligibility
All students are eligible to receive meals at no cost. No ID is required.
Emergency Delivery
In the event that a household member is unable to come to a meal site due to an emergency/hardship, the family should contact the school office of one of their children no later than 9:00 a.m. for an emergency delivery that same day.

Building Availability for Students in Need of Internet Access and/or Supervision:
- School buildings will be open (gyms and other large areas) for students who are in need of quality, internet access or for working parents who need that service. Here is the link to reserve your child(ren) a spot for the coming week.
- Students will be in a study hall environment for the duration of the day.
- Normal Bus Routes will run in the morning and afternoon for students who need to still attend
- Breakfast and lunch will be served in buildings.
Food Service & Meal Distribution Plan:
- Meals will be served in each building daily for those students in attendance.
- There will be a Grab n Go option at each school campus at identified school doors at each school campus (SMS door 8), a lunch and next day’s breakfast will be provided in a grab and go manner.
- For those students remaining at home, remote food sites will be established and food will be available there daily. The food provided will be that day’s lunch and the next day’s breakfast. The exact details will be published prior to next Monday morning.
- Parents/students with transportation hardships can fill out the delivery form online or contact their child’s school office for assistance.
- Students will be expected to complete an engagement check each day through Canvas.
- It is highly recommended that students attend Google Meet sessions each day for each class/period based on the schedule published by each building principal or their classroom teacher at the elementary level. The student and teacher interaction and feedback is important in the learning process.
- Students are expected to complete all work by the scheduled due date published in the Canvas courses.
- Students are expected to contact teachers using Canvas messages when they have questions regarding assignments.
- Students who come to buildings for internet access must bring earbuds with them to use for Google Meets.
- There will not be packets of work available. Students are expected to complete their work digitally and if internet access is an issue, the buildings are open.
Be Supportive
* Ensure that your child has reliable internet access on a daily basis.
* Help your student establish and maintain a regular schedule for working on his/her online classwork daily.
* Set up a study space, including the technology required, and be prepared to resolve technical issues that may come up.
Be a Partner
Regularly communicate with teachers to assess your child's learning, academic achievement, etc.
- Become actively involved in your students learning processes
- Reinforce that online courses are as important as face-to-face courses.
- Establish incentives and consequences with your student.
- Model hard work and persistence.
Be Involved
* Work closely with your child, guide him or her, and actively participate in your child's daily learning.
- Monitor your student’s progress and attendance. Be sure they complete the Daily Engagement Check (for attendance) along with classwork for their classes (for grades).
- Review the course requirements with your student and define expectations.
- Get to know the Learning Management System (Canvas).
- Get to know the Google Meet platform and how that will be utilized for teacher engagement
- Create a Parent Square account for your student’s school to stay informed and in touch

All SMS students should be completing the daily engagement checks, which are located on the SMS Community page in Canvas.
Face-to-face students: Please don't forget to do them each day this week! If you do not have internet access, please call Paula Walsh at 812-752-8926 so she can check you in.

Science Olympiad
The Science Olympiad students who are in knowledge events will be meeting on Tuesday, December 1st from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. in the 6th grade science lab.

Academic Super Bowl Teams
Congratulations to the new Academic Super Bowl team: Addison Akers, Noah Bagwell, Clyde Cooper, Braden Cox, Lane Harris, Cassidy Innie, Gabby Jamison, Regan Kiefer, Hailey Laney, Cohen Long, Ashley Mihalik, Brianna Mihalik, Brooklyn Moon, Jaylynn Petty, Lily Siekman, Alex Spaulding, Gloria Spencer, and Arya Stillions. Each of you should have received an announcement with details via your Canvas inbox.
Academic Spell Bowl is a math, science, English, and social studies competition that takes place on Saturday, May 1st. Until that time, students meet about once a month to study the topic The American Woman: A Generation of Progress 1920 - 2020. Students work together in squads to answer questions based on their subject.
