The URBIS Dialogues
Invasive alien species (IAS) are a pervasive force in cities around the world, an endless headache for biodiversity managers on the ground and cost billions of Euros worth of damage each year. These problem species wreak havoc with ecosystems and are one of the main drivers of biodiversity loss worldwide, with their effects only expected to worsen with predicted climate change
Action must be taken, but how do we deal with IAS and mitigate their detrimental effects in the face of oncoming environmental change?
To strengthen exchange of knowledge and take action towards eradicating IAS in cities, the IUCN in collaboration with ICLEI and the URBIS partners are hosting an URBIS Dialogue on:
Managing invasive alien species at the local level: insights and best practices.

Whats on the cards?
Together with leading experts in the field and cities around the world, we'll share best practices on the management of these species as well as look at progressive solutions from existing case studies that reduce the risk of invasive alien species in urban areas. Moreover this webinar will address the key role that local and regional authorities can play in helping address the risks associated with biological invasions and in raising awareness among decision-makers and citizens.
Participants will be given the opportunity to discuss their concerns and areas of need, express their ideas and share commonalities and best practices from around the world.
