Journeying in Hope and Love: Building a Culture of Accompaniment
The Road to Emmaus
As they approached the village to which they were going,
he gave the impression that he was going on farther.
But they urged him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”
So he went in to stay with them.
And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight.
Then they said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning [within us]
while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?”
Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way
and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
~ Luke 24:28-32, 35
Dear St. Clare School Families,
Many thanks to our teachers for preparing classrooms with student work and giving alumni, prospective and current families a feel for what it’s like to learn during a pandemic. Parents were pleased with what they witnessed, reassuring them that their children’s classroom is a place where learning happens and students are known and cared about.
Thank you to our amazing volunteers who shared their positive experiences at St. Clare. We thank the Student Council, office staff, administrators and teachers for their presence and support. Congratulations to Mrs. Rizzo for coordinating and planning the event that was postponed due to the surge in mid-January. Typically, this event is held during Catholic Schools Week where all teachers and staff attend Mass together with families. You would have seen the teachers and instructional assistants in the classroom, but because we had to pivot quickly, teachers were invited based on their availability.
Breakfast@Clare’s was well attended with many happy faces connecting together again, succeeding in its purpose to build community. Thank you to Kristi Britt for organizing this event which brought so much joy to our community. I spoke with an alumni family who was so happy to see the Breakfast return! To Kevin and Marta Farmer, and to all who volunteered to cook pancakes, welcome and check in people, set up, clean up, and serve – students and families. Because of Kristi and Bill’s generosity, 100% of the proceeds will benefit our CleanAir4StClare campaign.
In the week’s to come, there will be many more opportunities to strengthen our bond. We hope to see you and the 20 or so families who will be joining the St. Clare community in the 2022-23 school year at the following events:

SYNODAL LISTENING SESSIONS
On Thursday, March 24, we are inviting school families along with friends and family members to this listening session. Your voice is so important so that our Church leaders may better learn about your insights. I hope you will make every effort to join us. All are welcome.

REPORTING STUDENT PROGRESS
In the next few days, teachers will be finalizing the report cards, one of the ways teachers communicate how well students are making progress towards standards. Report cards will be sent by homeroom teachers via private messages on ParentSquare by 5P on March 15. We invite you to join us on March 15 at Morning Assembly when we recognize our second trimester Young Christians. Middle School Awards will follow after Morning Assembly concludes. We congratulate our students for their perseverance and efforts at learning!
STAR ASSESSMENT WINDOW
We continue our Star assessment window this week. Please encourage your students to do their best so that we can use the data to help identify areas of growth. We are grateful for your partnership to encourage students to build a habit of reading. It is truly the very best way to expand the capacity to learn.
JOG-A-THON
Kudos to all of you who have already raised $13,140! Exceeding the school’s $50,000 goal will put us a whole lot closer to having the funds we need for our elementary building HVAC upgrade under way. Thank you to Conrad Tinio and the Jog-a-Thon Committee for making this a reality for us again this year!

As always, I am grateful for your kindness and for your willingness to work together as a community. Your efforts prove time and again that we are indeed better together.
Let’s continue to pray for peace in Ukraine and the end to the Russian invasion.

2021-22 School Calendar
Below, you will find the Calendar Grid for the school year. Some find this difficult to navigate, so I’ve created the Calendar Highlights document which I hope will make it a bit easier for you to consume.
Some changes since the end of the school year: we added September 20th as a NO SCHOOL DAY and our School Year will end a day earlier. The original calendar had us attending 183 days of school, knowing that we had three days over the required 180 days. We are keeping the 181 days in the event we have to close for an emergency due to poor air quality.
Other options to view the calendar include a Google calendar synched to ParentSquare, or subscribing to the St. Clare School Public Calendar below:
