Middle School Changes and Updates

Thank you to those of you that contacted me about changes in your child's middle school assignment. Please remember if you are moving to please update your address in the front office so that records/student info will be sent to the correct school.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are moving or changing middle schools. I will not be able to assist with registration during the summer months, however if you do change schools during the summer, please forward any registration questions to the JYJ data manager at 919-856-7659.

More Group Photos Needed

We are still taking group photos K-5 from field trips, class events, Spanish dancing, etc. to be included in the 5th grade slide show. You can email the pictures to either me or Elisabeth McMahon. Please send in all pictures by Monday 05/19.

(Free) 2014 Brilliant & Beautiful SMART Scholars Workshop

The 2014 Brilliant & Beautiful SMART Scholars Workshop will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014. This event is sponsored supported by the North Carolina State University Graduate School, NC- MSEN at NC State University, and the Brilliant and Beautiful Foundation (BBF). This year's theme is "The Fashion of Science: Textiles and Production".

This opportunity is for girls in Grades 5 - 8. They will have the opportunity to participate in exciting hands on laboratory experiences and engage with scientists. Our goal is to provoke scientific inquiry in non-traditional ways, to capture a lasting interest in science and engineering for a pipeline of youth, who will become our future scientific workforce.

Please share the following registration link with students, student groups, and parents - BBFSMARTScholars. The event will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the NC State University's Friday Institute for Educational Innovation (1890 Main Campus Dr, Raleigh, NC 27606 ) from 8:30am to 2:30pm.

There is no cost for the event. Registration is required, register by June 22nd.

(Free) Art for Everyone Event

"Art for Everyone". It is a free arts workshop taking place May 31 at Broughton from 9am-12pm. Registration is required. Kids ages 8-15 will be able to take mini-classes in pottery, knitting, dance and music. Click here for the flyer.

NCSU Study Skills Camp

NC State will be offering a summer study skills camp for learning strategies, test taking skills and organizational skills. Please click here to see the flyer and more info.
