Word From The Woods

Bishop Woods Newsletter September 4, 2023

Hello Bishop Woods Family!

This is Ms. Crisci with your weekly updates!

I am happy to announce that we had a successful opening of school! Students are transitioning smoothly into their current grade and appear excited to be back in school! We are so proud that MANY of our classes are adhering to the dress code and school wide policies.

Now that we completed the first 2 days of school, students are learning the policies, procedures and expectations. We are urging parents to help us by continuing to review the school handbook with their children. All students will be held accountable for their actions.

Kudos and Praise to the majority of our 7th and 8th grade students who are following the cell phone policy. We are very proud of all of them! It was wonderful walking into those classes and seeing the students focused on their learning and engaged in the lessons and discussions!

Dismissal

Parents, at dismissal we call for walkers and pick ups at 2:50. It takes students and teachers time to get to the lobby and situated for dismissal. We need you to be patient to ensure the safety of each child. We can be more efficient if parents stay away from the door and allow us to bring the children to you. For the safety of all, parents are not to enter the school, Please wait for us to bring the children to you.

Big Reminders

  • NO students will be dismissed between 1:50-2:50 without prior notification to the office. We can not disturb the education of students by calling the rooms to release students.

  • Parents, if your child is a bus student and you decide to pick your child up, you must contact the office or send in a note prior to dismissal, with the amount of students who take the bus and the amount of students being picked up, There is limited staff to leave a post to get a child from the bus.

  • Detentions begin this week for students in grades 5-8. Review the code of conduct with your child. If your child receives a detention, the child must serve the detention the same day as the offense. Parents will have to make arrangements to pick your child p at 4:00.

Attendance Matters

Upon return to school this week, we will begin tracking attendance and tardies for the month of September. Any student with perfect attendance and no tardies will participate in a special end of month incentive!

Fair Haven School Based Health Clinic Information

Enroll Today!

Bishop Woods has a school based health clinic operated by the Fair Haven Community Health Care. It is located in the nurses' suite on the first floor of our school. The clinic can provide back to school physicals as well as acute care to those students who are enrolled. While the clinic does not replace your primary care provider, it is a convenient way for both students and parents to access care without delay, leading to less missed time from work and school.
