Anderson School District Five's 2019-2020 School Calendar
Valentine's Day No-Nos
This presents many problems for our staff within the school day and balloons, flowers, and candy are not permitted on buses.
Thank you for understanding!
Attendance Policy
We would like to reiterate the importance of your child's school attendance as our year progresses. Students learn best when they are present regularly and receive instruction in the classroom environment. Please review our district's attendance policy below which is also in the Student/Parent Handbook.
If your student has 5 or more unexcused absences or 3 consecutive unexcused absences, you will be contacted to schedule an attendance conference. Thank you for your continued cooperation and if you have any questions please forward them to Mr. Cobbs.
Anderson District Five will consider students lawfully absent under the following circumstances:
- They are ill and their attendance in school would endanger their health or the health of others.
- There is a death or serious illness in their immediate family.
- There is a recognized religious holiday of their faith.
- There is a doctor or dentist appointment and a statement of doctor’s care verified in writing by the doctor or dentist upon the student’s return to school.
- Prearranged absences for other reasons and/or extreme hardships at the discretion of the principal.
The district will consider students unlawfully absent under the following circumstances:
- They are willfully absent from school without the knowledge of their parent/legal guardian.
- They are absent without acceptable cause with the knowledge of their parent/legal guardian.
2:30 Dismissal Reminder
Taken from the Parent-Student Handbook (located on our school's webpage):
STUDENTS SHOULD BE PICKED UP NO LATER THAN 2:50 EACH DAY. STUDENTS LEFT BEYOND THIS TIME WILL BE BROUGHT INTO THE BUILDING AND PARENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO ENTER THE SCHOOL AND SIGN OUT THE STUDENT. STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT PICKED UP BY 2:50 - OR STUDENTS BEING RETURNED BY THE BUS DUE TO LACK OF ADULT SUPERVISION WILL BE LOGGED IN THE FRONT OFFICE. REPEATED PATTERNS WILL BE IDENTIFIED AND REFERRED TO THE APPROPRIATE PERSONNEL, WHICH MAY INCLUDE: GUIDANCE COUNSELOR, SOCIAL WORKER, OR SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER.
Flu Season is HERE!
DHEC regulations require that students be fever and vomit free for 24 hours before returning to school. This is without medication. It is very important that you do NOT send your child to school with fever, flu like symptoms, or stomach ache.
It would be so very helpful if you could send in clorox wipes, lysol, and kleenex as donations for your child's teacher. Our custodial staff is working very hard to keep our school as germ-free as possible!
Thank you for your help!
