Citizen Bee

George Stephens, Camryn Pratt, Matthew Vining and Katrina Klaunig. Region 20 Citizen Bee Competition on April 1st. Matthew Vining placed first and Camryn Pratt Placed 3rd. Matthew Vining will compete at the State Competition on April 29, 2017. The Texas Citizen Bee is a statewide civics education competition funded by the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation. Students prepare for the Citizen Bee by studying a 155 page study guide created by the Bill of Rights Institute that covers the U.S. Constitution and other important documents, people, issues, civic values, and skills.

UIL Academics

Congratulations to the following students for advancing to the UIL Academic State Meet on April 21-22 at UT-Austin. This is more students qualifying to State than we had last year. Special recognition to the Current Events team who is returning to Austin to defend their State Championship from last year!

Mock Trial at State

On March 2-4th The CHS Mock Trial Team along with Kendall Country Bar Association Coach Amy Lambiase and myself attended the Texas Mock Trial State Competition. We may not have placed but we learned a lot and these amazing students represented BISD well.

UIL Academics Wins Sweepstakes

The Charger UIL Academic Team won Sweepstakes at the 26-5A District Meet on Saturday, March 25th, defeating a strong Dripping Springs HS team. This is only the second time in Charger history that the UIL Academic team has won the District meet. Taking 1st place team awards were Current Events, Computer Science, Science, Social Studies, and Accounting. The team will have 23 members moving on to Regionals. Congratulations to all UIL Academic team members for a strong showing!

Congratulations also to Pheonix Pittman, Region V President, who did an outstanding job leading the conference. Her professionalism and poise on stage in front of 1000+ FCCLA members, advisors and guests was impressive. Please congratulate these ladies if you have them in class. They all worked very hard!

Debate Winners

Please congratulate Noah Gipson for finishing 4th in State for 5A UIL Congressional Debate. He debated for 14 hours in the last two days competing against 50 other State Qualifiers in 5A. Sophomore Addison Knight was also a State Qualifier and competed the first day but did not make it to the final round. George Stephens and Jacob Hardin were State Alternates for Region 20.

Traffic Flow Changes Take Effect Jan. 3

In response to changes being made to Charger Boulevard by the City of Boerne, Champion High School is changing the traffic flow pattern for drop-off and pick-up times. These changes will create a safer environment during these heavy traffic times. Read More

Boerne Outdoor Summer Science Academy

Spanish 2 Celebrate “Dia de Muertos”

Students in the Spanish 2 class at CHS created coloring books to disseminate to the kindergarteners of the dual language program explaining what the Day of the Dead holiday represents. They also made their own "Calaveritas" cookies in class!

LaVernia Speech & Debate Tournament

Please congratulate the following students on their success at this past weekend LaVernia Speech and Debate Tournament:

Noah Gipson - 5th place Domestic Extemp. And Octo Finalist in Lincoln-Douglas Debate

George Stephens - Semi-finalist Domestic Extemp (2nd tournament he has competed in and first time at Varsity level)

Natalia Boyd - Semi-finalist Original Oratory (first tournament ever and competing at varsity level)

CHS Students in Germany

Four students of CHS went to Germany this past June. They were staying with a host family for half of the time and going to a German school during that time. The rest of the time we traveled all around Germany visiting castles, the Baltic Sea, Hamburg, Berlin, Munich and Salzburg and more. We had an awesome time.

CHS Current Events Team Wins State

Congratulations to the Champion HS Current Events team for winning the 5A State Meet at UT-Austin on May 25, 2016! Max Klaunig won the silver medal and Sean Cahill won the bronze medal! Congratulations to Coach Gillette and the entire team!!

CHS UIL Academics

The CHS UIL Academic team was very competitive at our 5A Region IV Meet held Saturday April 23rd at UTSA. We will be sending Sean Cahill, Sam Gillette, Max Klaunig, and James Sanders to compete in the State UIL Academic Meet for Current Events and Matt Saletta to compete in Persuasive Speaking. Good luck to these five students as they try to win a state championship!!

CHS Teacher Awarded KENS 5 ExCEL Award

On April 19th, the KENS5 cameras came to Mrs. Grossenbacher's 5th period class to present her with the ExCEL Award! Kim is recognized as one of BISD's finest teachers and also received a check from SACU as a part of the award. She, along with award winners from each ISD in the area, will be honored at a reception in May. KENS5 will air a segment featuring Kim and her students, including interviews and footage from the classroom, on Thursday April 21st at 6 PM.

Congratulations, Kim! We are proud of you and thank you for representing your campus and community so very well!

CHS UIL Academics

The CHS UIL Academics team finished 2nd at the District Meet on Saturday, April 2 at Floresville HS with 1st Team finishes in Social Studies, Current Events, Literary Criticism, and Accounting. We have 21 students who will advance to Regionals at UTSA on April 21-23!

Champion Theater Arts

On March 11, 2016, CHS One Act Play competed in the District 27 5A UIL OAP competition. Tyler Hanlyn was named to the All Star Honor Crew; Mark McClung and Sidney Sharp were named to the Honorable Mention All Star Cast; Jordan Bremer and Justin Jaime were named to the All Star Cast; and Caroline Green was names Best Actress and Jack Morris was named Best Actor. The Champion play advanced to the District contest taking place on March 24, 2016 at San Marcos High School. The Champion play, Sending Down the Sparrows, will be the second play to perform at approximately 2:00pm.
