Forever Moving Forward...NO Learning Limit!
United We Stand...We Salute Our Heroes!
We had a small 9/11 Commemorative Ceremony on Friday, September 11 at 8:15 outside in the front parking lot facing the flag. We said the Pledge of Allegiance, had a moment of silence, a poem and words were shared, along with singing of the National Anthem.
Note: Teachers did not have classroom discussions that focus on the tragedy of that day, especially to go into detail about the events of that day. Our focus was on while it was a terrible event in our history, it was about the heroes everywhere that came together to help everyone through the disaster and to celebrate being an American.

Mid-Term Progress Reports--Went Home with Students on September 11
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Students brought home their mid-term progress report on Friday, September 11. The beginning of the school year is filled with learning procedures, routines, and expectations. This is also a time when teachers are getting to know the students both academically and socially with both formal and informal assessments. The mid-term report is a means of giving parents a checkup of how the student is performing.
Typically, there are a handful of grades collected in each subject by the mid-term. The first mid-term is different, as there are not many assignments that go into the total calculation of the mid-term grade. Parents should take the mid-term grade with care and not place much emphasis on this checkpoint.
Another item we want to point out is your child has only had one complete special class rotation (art, music, PE) at this point. If they have not had the class yet this grading period they will not have a grade or if they just started the class, it may be an incomplete grade with just a few scores.
Parents are able to log into Skyward to check up on student progress 24/7. Any questions may be addressed with the classroom teacher.

Volunteer in the Classroom or Field Trip--Need Background Check On File--Good for One Year
At TZ we appreciate parents/guardians that would like to volunteer to assist in the classrooms and/or go on field trips. As a part of any volunteer activity, we must have a cleared background check on file for each person wanting to assist here at school or accompany a class on a field trip.
I wanted to take time to clarify the limited/volunteer background checks. These background checks are free to our volunteers. A limited/volunteer background check is only good for one calendar year. If a volunteer wishes to continue volunteering after one year, they must submit a new application.
A link to the form that needs to be completed and turned in to the TZ office is below. You may also come by the school to complete the form. We do need to have a copy of your driver’s license to process the request.
Again, we appreciate your willingness to volunteer.
