No Place for Hate Update!
In March, students explored their own unconscious bias about girls and sports. They worked to understand the term stereotype and how it relates to gender. Classes reflected on the negative effects of gender stereotypes. Students in grades 3 through 6 learned about Mo’Ne Davis and her potential to dispel stereotypes by learning about her experience as a pitcher in the Little League Baseball World Series. Students in K-2 explored these themes by reading Mama Played Baseball by David A. Adler. Then, students took the time to draw themselves in their future professions with a mindset that they can be whatever they want regardless of their gender. Some of our 6th graders interviewed community members who defy gender stereotypes in their professions. Please click the videos below to explore the interviews with your child.

Next, students are going to have a lesson in their classroom entitled Dolls are Us. This lesson provides an opportunity for students to explore their own identity and the physical characteristics that make each person unique, learn about some of the new diverse representation of dolls, reflect on their own experiences with dolls and propose a new doll by making one and write a persuasive letter to a toy company.
Linden Competition Time! Please submit a photo of your doll and a short letter to a toy company explaining why they should sell your doll. Your doll and letter should be side by side on one photo. your doll can be a drawn picture, or you can make a 3D version. There will be prizes! You can submit your photo here.

Seasonal Allergies
If your child is prone to seasonal allergies, NOW is the time to start their allergy medication. Many of the symptoms of allergies are the same as symptoms of COVID (cough, sore throat, runny nose, congestion, headache).
Unfortunately, we cannot tell the difference so we would need to follow the Health and Safety Plan and send your child home to be tested for COVID if they developed these symptoms.
REQUIRED HEALTH EXAMS FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR
The State of Pennsylvania requires students in certain grades to have health exams:
- Students entering Kindergarten and all students new to the district-- Dental and Physical Exam
- Students entering Grades 3 and 7--Dental Exam
- Students entering Grade 6 and 11-- Physical Exam
The exams must be completed after 9/1/2020. The completed health forms are due to the health office no later than October 15, 2021.
You can upload your completed exam forms to your child’s parent portal. Please keep a copy of the health form for your records.
A Medication dispensing form is required for ANY medication taken at school: Medication dispensing form
MEDICAL CONDITIONS AND ACTION PLANS
If your child has any of these health conditions:
Food allergies, Asthma, Bee Sting allergy, Migraine headache, Seizure disorder, Cardiac condition
You and your child’s doctor must complete an emergency action plan, along with the medication dispensing form, so your child may have emergency medication at school.

6th Grade Promotion is ON!
Dear 6th grade parents,
It's hard to believe, but our 6th graders are about to move on up to middle school!
We were thrilled to find out that the District has given the elementary schools the green light to plan and hold a promotion ceremony. Of course, we will have to abide by the appropriate health & safety precautions, so the ceremony will be different from year's past, but we are hoping that with a little bit of work and creativity, we'll be able to make it a really great event.
Here are the details we know:
- The date: June 8th @ 6:30pm (rain-date June 9th).
- The venue: Outdoors @ Linden; given the need to follow the health & safety guidelines, having it outdoors is really the best way to do it so that each student can have a couple of guests; having it at Linden gives us the freedom to work within our own space, and it may feel better to hold the ceremony at the school where the kids have been; rather than at a middle school where not everyone will be going.
- Guest Limit: Each student will be permitted 2 guests.
- Subcommittees:
- Invitation;
- Decorations;
- Refreshments;
- Video/Picture collage;
- 6th grade student gift.
If you're interested in helping out, please reach out to Ellen Devlin (emccdevlin@hotmail.com) and Jill Walton (jillhwalton@yahoo.com).
If you have a preference as to what you'd like to do (based upon the list above), please let us know that as well.
Please let us know soon - - we'd like to meet possibly next week - either virtually or at a park if people are comfortable.
Thanks everyone!
-Ellen M. Devlin & Jill Walton
Modified Quarantine...What does that mean?
As the school board approved the revisions to our health and safety plans, we will not follow the modified quarantine, as communicated by CBSD last week. Below is an infographic with more information regarding modified quarantine. If you should have any questions regarding the health of your child, please reach out to our school nurses. We appreciate your support as we continue to provide a safe and healthy environment for all.

Student Absences
In-Person Absences: Students will be marked absent if they are not in school that day. If the student should be physically present but is participating virtually due to COVID related concerns, the teacher will mark the attendance as "Participating Virtually". This will give the student credit for attendance.
Online Absences: If a student does not attend class, the student will be marked absent until we receive the communication from parents. Note: If a student logs-in initially, but leaves the call or does not engage, the comment "Virtually Cut" will be added to the comments section.
Appointments: If a student has to leave for an appointment, please email their teacher and 'cc Cyndi Faville as well.
Please contact Cindy Faville in the Linden Main office at 267-893-4402 or email at cfaville@cbsd.org with any questions.
Family Travel
If your child(ren) will be traveling this upcoming Spring season, please complete a Request for Approved Absence Form.
Any questions about this procedure can be directed to Cindy Faville in the Linden Office, at cfaville@cbsd.org.
Questions about COVID-19?
As the COVID cases rise in the community, the Central Bucks Nurses are working hard to keep everyone healthy and safe. Our school nurse, Mrs. Tina Boyer, is here to help! If you have questions, feel free to email or call her. She can help with:
- Determine if your child(ren) is a close contact.
- Explain the isolation and quarantine process.
- Provide guidance for symptoms and management.
- And more! .... just ask.

Holicong Middle School Presents: Freaky Friday
Holicong Community,
The time is here! We are excited to announce the different ways you can watch both casts perform Freaky Friday! You read that correctly – due to the number of students involved in the Holicong musical, it is tradition to have two separate casts.
This year we have the Orange cast and the Purple cast. If you want to watch the show to see certain cast members, you can either ask them or check the cast lists on the ticket website.
Our license from Music Theater International allows us to stream at specific times, not on demand, so we have multiple times for each cast.
We have attached a pdf for each cast that provides all the information you need, including dates, purchase information, links to purchase tickets, and a video that even shows you how to do this! The times and pdf’s are also on the Holicong calendar but please note – it is important that you purchase the tickets on the links in advance! Please do not just join at 7:00 PM or 2:00 PM (matinees) and expect to get right in the show – we don’t want you to miss a minute of these performances.
