Distance Learning March 2020
MESSAGE FROM OUR PRIMARY PRINCIPAL - MS. SANDRA KELLEC
Dear AJAC Community,
I do hope that you are well during this time of uncertainty. We are experiencing increased responsibility and closeness in our world.
We at Ajman Academy, like most of the world, have taken on the challenge to introduce distance learning to our students. Fortunately for us, our school has long been a proponent of using the latest technologies. We are very fortunate in this regard, particularly as a one-to-one iPad school.
Our teachers have been guided by an incredible IT team who has provided both training and support and will continue to do so. We are working hard to provide the best quality lessons for our students. Although Showbie has been a very familiar app for Grades 3-5, our younger learners in Grades 1 and 2 have recently adjusted to the new app quickly and are gaining confidence every day. Additionally, Explain Everything is a cutting-edge whiteboard app that we have just introduced, allowing teachers to teach e-lessons much like that of a normal classroom setting.
We are tremendously proud of all of our students. Even our students in the early years are completing activities supported by their teachers and parents using SeeSaw online.
I would like to give a special thank you to our parents who have worked as our partners in making sure that our students are ready to learn every single day, as well as offering additional support from home.
Although it must be said that we are still very much at the beginning stages of our Distance Learning journey, we will continue to work as a team to perfect what we are doing. Our teachers have been putting in countless hours to provide interactive and interesting lessons, to adjust to the huge change from the normal classroom environment.
I must share with you that over the past few days, I have had the opportunity to see many positive comments from parents in emails. I have also watched numerous video clips of students at home during their lessons. What I am struck by most is the stamina, hope and spirit that human beings have, irrespective of age.
I experience great joy in the laughter of our children when they feel pride in accomplishing tasks or virtually collaborating with their classmates and teachers. I have also seen the caring feedback that teachers have given to students to inspire them to keep trying their very best!
But most importantly, I think our students have taught us the lesson of just getting on with it. We are all committed to Distance Learning, however long that will last. We will celebrate the successes of others and share the pleasure that comes through sincere work.
Thank you, teachers, students and parents for walking on this journey together. Let us continue to inspire our children to aim on a daily basis for work well done.
Please stay safe and may God bless.
