Bikes for the World Donation Day
Bikes for the World accepts bikes, bike parts (including tubes, tires, wheels, chains, pedals, saddles, cables, and mountain bike handlebars), accessories (including helmets, pumps, locks, gloves, chains, bicycle books and manuals, and hand tools including general tools such as wrenches and screw drivers, as well as specialized bike tools) and portable sewing machines!
The volunteers from the CYDC will collect the bikes and issue receipts. The volunteers will learn how to remove pedals and tie them to the frame, turn handlebars, lower seats, and remove baskets. The bikes are then ready for efficient handling and eventual shipping. Then, the volunteers will have the opportunity of owning one of their own bikes!
Each bicycle donor is asked to contribute a minimum $10 to defray shipping costs.
Kari Yocum is coordinating the efforts with this. For more information contact her at kariyocum1@gmail.com

One of the biggest things coming out of the US Masters convention was the new officials certification program now offered at the link below.
You no longer have to be a member of USA Swimming or do a background check in order to be a stroke and turn judge at a Masters swim meet. That alone will save you about $100 a year out of your own pocket when trying to be a "volunteer". The entire process is free.
You set up an account at the link below with USA Swimming, watch 6 videos, take the test and pass with at least 80% correct answers. You take the results and forward to the US Masters national office.
We will sit down as a board/coaches this fall and discuss how else we can support and promote this important job. If we want to continue to grow the team in the future and offer larger and more Masters swim meets in the upcoming aquatic center(s) in the area down the road, we need to grow our pool of officials.
Congrats to our Palmetto Masters Triathletes!!
