In Person Learning Shifts to 4-days a week Monday, April 26th
Starting April 26, San Juan Unified’s hybrid instructional model will shift to 4-days per week of in-person instruction for students in grades TK through 12. In-person students will attend Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings while students enrolled in distance learning will continue to receive synchronous instruction each afternoon. Wednesdays remain dedicated to asynchronous learning and delivering specialized and intervention instruction to students remotely.
“We know that anything short of a return to a full five-day full-time schedule is less than ideal,” said Superintendent Kent Kern. “Our hybrid model allows more in-person instructional time for students while maintaining the ability to serve students enrolled in distance learning with their current teachers and classmates instead of attempting to reassign them with only a few weeks left in the school year.”
The shift comes as new federal and state guidance allows for students to be spaced closer together inside classrooms while maintaining other safety measures including the use of face coverings. Recognizing that a shift in instructional models requires significant preparation work with revised lessons and classroom spacing, the district has also reached an agreement with the San Juan Teachers’ Association covering expectations, supports and potential impacts to classroom teachers and other instructional providers.
The district is planning for a return to a full-time five-day schedule with the start of the 2021-2022 school year on August 12
PLEASE NOTE: The NEW 4 Day Schedule Starts Next Week on Monday, April 26th

The Award Winning Arcade Music Program Invites Students to Join for the 2021/22 School Year!!
As the music teacher at Arcade, I'm always excited to invite students into our award-winning music program. Learning how to play an instrument or sing music is a life-long investment that promotes positive self-esteem, discipline, and gives students a place to belong. In our music classes, we focus on teaching all students how to become critical thinkers that are creative and can communicate and collaborate. Please take a moment to see what Arcade has to offer and let me know if you have any questions. I hope to see you in a music class next year!
Musically,
Donna Pool

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Lunch Time Zoom (LTZ) has changed to Morning Time Zoom (MTZ)!
Due to hybrid scheduling, we can't continue Lunch Time Zoom at its regular time, so it is now MTZ, or Morning Time Zoom.
Any ARCADE students can join, stay as long as they want, leave whenever. It's just a time for students to hang out, chat, share their pets, talk about video games - pretty much every day is a different topic!
MTZ will be held from 10:30-11:00am every Tuesday and Thursday. The link will be posted in the Counseling GCs Tues/Thurs mornings
