The Coaches Corner

January 18 - January 22

You are all amazing!

Last week was so busy, and more than a little stressful! I am continually impressed by what a wonderful and dedicated group of people I work with. I just want to let all of you know that you are appreciated and that you are making such a big impact on so many lives. I see you...

IB Update

Thursday and Friday were spent walking Jean Ramseyer, and independent IB consultant through Birch St. and Cherry St. All of the suggestions and discussion can be applied directly to Rapid City. Rapid CIty has had their official visit already.

I will send out Jean's notes as soon as she send them to be digitally. She has broken down our strengths and areas that need to be strengthened. The most important thing that I took from this visit was how to make us more transdisciplinary, and it is not as hard as we think!!! The other thing that is important to note: WE ARE where we need to be in this stage of our journey; WE ARE READY TO APPLY FOR AUTHORIZATION!!!

A couple of notes..

Jean (like Priscilla before her) said that I truly need to meet with every grade level each week... BUT, I don't have to be in every classroom, which takes a huge weight off me. I still want to get into your rooms, but during this stage of the process I have so much already going on :D

So, our options are to meet after school on your own time, or to use one of your prep periods. I think that this will be the most efficient use of our time. Please chat amongst your grade level to determine which day you would prefer. I am at Birch St. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, at Cherry St. Tuesday, and Rapid City Friday. (Note to Rapid City) Laura is going to take over some of the coordinator responsibilities to ensure that your needs are being met. If you feel that there is a better day during the week and she is available, you could meet with her and that would fulfill the requirement) We will start this the week of the 25th.

OPPORTUNITY!!!

We are in the final leg of our grant funding, and we have been given the chance to meet for a full day each month rather than a half day every other month. It is sometimes very difficult to get rolling during the half day meetings and just when we feel we are making progress we have to stop our work. So this is a great opportunity... and would eliminate the need for summer work days :D I'll get with people next week to see what works best for a full day.
