Celebrate Family Literacy Day (November 1st) by Reading Nonfiction
Reading nonfiction texts offers many benefits for children's cognitive development and education. First and foremost, nonfiction reading enhances a child's ability to absorb and process information critically. It encourages them to think analytically, ask questions, and seek answers, thereby fostering important critical thinking skills. Exposure to various topics in nonfiction texts also broadens a child's knowledge base, enabling them to better understand the world around them. This knowledge not only improves their academic performance but also equips them with practical, real-life information that can be applied to daily situations.
Nonfiction reading cultivates a child's curiosity and thirst for learning. By exploring a wide array of subjects, they can discover their personal interests and passions. This can motivate them to delve deeper into specific areas of knowledge, ultimately leading to a more informed and engaged life. Additionally, nonfiction texts often contain valuable lessons about empathy, diversity, and different cultures, promoting a more inclusive and open-minded worldview. Encouraging children to read nonfiction can provide them with the tools to become informed, critical thinkers who are prepared to navigate the complexities of the world and make a positive impact on their communities and beyond.

Title 1 News
Part of our goals through our Title 1 Schoolwide plan includes building parent/caregiver engagement with their child's education. Please do take advantage of opportunities to be involved at school. Your involvement lets your child know that you believe school is important and they are important. If you would like to be more involved at school please contact your child's teacher and watch for opportunities in our school newsletter! When we partner together everyone does better!
The first opportunity for Murrary Park families to come and be involved with their child's education as a community is November 20th at our first Family Night. Save the date on your calendar. We look forward to seeing you there!
