September 25, 2023
Now that we are a couple of weeks into the school year, it is starting to feel like we are hitting our stride and really getting into the swing of things. This week, we took care of some annual school related tasks: our Safe Haven drill and school picture day! While these tasks are a necessary part of our return to school and are a positive experience for most students, they throw off our daily schedules and can cause stress for students for a variety of reasons. For example, some students wonder about school safety when we conduct safety drills and other students get anxious about stepping in front of the camera with the pressure to look good and smile nicely. Please check in with your child(ren) to see how they experienced these events.
This week, we have another annual event to look forward to: Homecoming! Homecoming week is one of the only times during the year that we get a chance to come together with all of the other schools to celebrate our community and show our Franklin Pride. We will celebrate at Ben Franklin by joining in the high school spirit days. There is nothing quite like a week of students and staff dressed in fun, outrageous outfits to unite us! Please join us in being part of a better community by joining in the homecoming festivities this week.
Spirit days - All week
Homecoming Parade/Powderpuff Finals - Wednesday, September 27th [5:30-7:30PM]

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Updated Parent Pick Up Procedure
In an effort to increase the safety of students, staff, and families on our campus, we are revamping our parent pick up procedure. Instead of utilizing the main drive and bus lane, parent pick up will now use the north parking lot loop, similar to how we run parent drop off in the morning. Please see the attached information for the new traffic pattern and additional details about parent pick up. Please also note that students will now be entering vehicles on the driver’s side rather than the passenger side.
FHS SPIRIT WEEK FOR HOMECOMING 9/25 - 9/28
It’s homecoming week! Please see the spirit days below and join in the fun!
REMINDER: SPEAK UP SPEAK OUT FORM
#SeeSayDay is September 25th and this is a day where everyone is encouraged and reminded that if you “see something to say something.” We want to remind Franklin Public Schools families of a tool we have to help assist with this if there is something you or your child feels the need to report. The District is part of “Speak Up Speak Out Wisconsin” for threat or incident reporting. Click on this link to view the form. You will notice as you start typing the name of your school, the choices for schools narrows so you can select your school. By selecting your school, this report goes to the principal or local law enforcement when needed. The video below also gives a good overview of how “Speak Up Speak Out Wisconsin” works and is good to review with your family.
Starting with this newsletter, we will have a button at the bottom of all of our newsletters for the Speak Up Speak Out Wisconsin form that you can click on for quick access to report incidents if needed. You can also add the Speak Up Speak Out App on your phone for quick reporting by utilizing these links: iOS | Android
Student Engagement Survey
On October 2 - 6 your student will be participating in a Student Engagement Survey. This survey was written by the district and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. It asks students to respond to questions in areas related to environment, learning, and relationships. Information from this survey is used by teachers and administrators to identify areas of improvement related to the student experience. If you have questions about the survey, please contact Steffany Jewell, Steffany.Jewell@franklin.k12.wi.us.
