Quarter 3, 2018
Three Quarters Down, One to Go!
Third quarter may be the toughest to push through in the academic world due to cold temperatures and gray skies, but the Saints made it another memorable eight weeks in the library! Check out some of our lightlights from January through March.
Book Displays
This quarter's book display features the blind book date for January/February and a green book cover theme for March.
February's book display reads: "Does my first line get me checked out?" The first paragraph is typed on the outside of the envelope so students cannot judge a book by its cover.
March's book display reads: "Make sure you're pinch proof this month. Read a green book."
Would you check out a book from reading the first paragraph?
Grab a green book in time for St. Patrick's Day.
Check out a book without knowing the cover, title or author.
Book Talks with Mrs. Moses and Mrs. Sabers
During the month of February, English I and II students were able to pick out a book of their choice to read for this quarter. Books talks were given in the Cube. Reading is extremely important for all ages. What are you currently reading?
We Love the Xtras!
Each heart displayed as the name of a student tutor on it.
More Chargers
Students like to charge their devices during a free period and the library now has more chargers to help them do so. There are a total of three charging stations in the library.
Artwork from Students
A big thank you to Mrs. Wendt and Mrs. Budde for lending the library student artwork for beautiful displays of watercolor and 3D book art!

The 57 Bus: A True Story of Two Teenagers and the Crime That Changed Their Lives by Dashka Slater
Summary and image from goodreads.com: "If it weren't for the 57 bus, Sasha and Richard never would have met. Both were high school students from Oakland, California, one of the most diverse cities in the country, but they inhabited different worlds. Sasha, a white teen, lived in the middle-class foothills and attended a small private school. Richard, a black teen, lived in the crime-plagued flatlands and attended a large public one. Each day, their paths overlapped for a mere eight minutes. But one afternoon on the bus ride home from school, a single reckless act left Sasha severely burned, and Richard charged with two hate crimes and facing life imprisonment. The case garnered international attention, thrusting both teenagers into the spotlight."
Iron Gold (Red Rising #4) by Pierce Brown
Summary and image from goodreads.com: "A decade ago, Darrow was the hero of the revolution he believed would break the chains of the Society. But the Rising has shattered everything: Instead of peace and freedom, it has brought endless war. Now he must risk everything he has fought for on one last desperate mission. Darrow still believes he can save everyone, but can he save himself? Red Rising was the story of the end of one universe, and Iron Gold is the story of the creation of a new one. Witness the beginning of a stunning new saga of tragedy and triumph from masterly New York Times bestselling author Pierce Brown."
Far from the Tree by Robin Benway
Summary and image from goodreads.com: "A contemporary novel about three adopted siblings who find each other at just the right moment. Being the middle child has its ups and downs. But for Grace, an only child who was adopted at birth, discovering that she is a middle child is a different ride altogether. After putting her own baby up for adoption, she goes looking for her biological family, including—Maya, her loudmouthed younger bio sister, who has a lot to say about their newfound family ties. Having grown up the snarky brunette in a house full of chipper redheads, she’s quick to search for traces of herself among these not-quite-strangers. And when her adopted family’s long-buried problems begin to explode to the surface, Maya can’t help but wonder where exactly it is that she belongs."
