Southwest Officer Training
Newly elected and seasoned club and Federation officers are invited to a two-day virtual officer training. Both trainings will take place via zoom from 7-8 pm. Session one (Sunday, November 26) will focus on a welcoming club environment and provide ideas for recreation, education and more. Session two (Tuesday, November 28) will focus on specific officer roles and responsibilities. Attendance at both sessions is highly recommended. Registration is now open in 4-H Online. Annual Volunteer Training
It is time for annual volunteer training; this year’s theme is 4-H for All Abilities. All volunteers should plan to attend this essential training. Virtual trainings will be held on November 14, and December 13. Registration is required. For more information about this training visit the Extension website.
Fundraiser Committee Meeting
It is time to start planning for our annual 4-H fundraiser. The fundraiser committee will meet on Monday, November 27 at 5:30 pm in the Farmers Room. All youth and adult volunteers are invited to join this committee and help plan the annual fundraiser. Please email Anna or Wendy if you are interested in joining this committee.
HIRING: 2024 Summer Intern
Summer intern applications are now open! Priority is given to applicants who apply by November 30. Summer interns work with day camps, Cloverbuds and the county fair during their internship! Apply at z.umn.edu/4hsummerintern.
December Cloverbuds
The Elk Tip Toppers are hosting Cloverbuds on December 10 at 4:00 pm. The winter-themed event will take place at the Farmers Room. Registration is now open in 4-H Online. Register by December 1. Cloverbuds is a program for all youth in grades K-2. Invite a new friend!
Happy Thanksgiving!
The Extension Office will be closed on Thursday, November 23 to allow staff to celebrate Thanksgiving. We hope you have a lovely holiday. The office will also be closed on Friday, November 24 as normal.

Every three years, volunteers must complete the Safety of Minors Training and re-enroll in 4-H Online. If you have received notice that you need to renew, please reference this renewal guide.

Training: Connecting New Youth to Your Club
Apply for 2024 National 4-H Conference
Youth in grades 10-12 are invited to apply for National 4-H Conference. More information and details about applying are available on the Extension website. Applications are due on November 14 at midnight. Nobles County youth Jocelyn H attended National 4-H Conference in 2023 and had a great experience.
Cloverbud Volunteer Training
Join volunteers from across the state on Nov. 16 for a watch party webinar exploring the Welcome to the World of Cloverbuds video training series. This new set of four training videos is designed to support adults and teens who work with our youngest 4-H’ers in grades K-2. Club leaders and youth officers may be especially interested in ideas to incorporate Cloverbuds in their multi-age club settings (video 4). Other resources include a handout on strategies that support the unique developmental growth of Cloverbuds, and a guide to help volunteers apply the information to their club or role. Regional Ambassador Event: Connection & Curling
Local ambassadors are invited to connect with other local ambassadors across the southwest and southeast region for a fun day of connection and curling. For more information review this flyer. If you are interested in this event, please reach out to Anna.
Animal Science Leadership Team
Youth team members in grades 8 and up will have the opportunity to plan, implement and evaluate a variety of animal science programs while exploring their passions and practicing leadership skills. They will also serve as positive role models for Minnesota 4-H and the animal science program. This experience will offer an opportunity to network with peers, mentors and industry professionals. Applications are due December 15. Learn more and apply today.
2024 Down on the Farm
Cloverbuds are invited to Down on the Farm in January 2024! This virtual animal science program will explore the wonderful world of animal science through hands-on activities and guest speakers. Save the date for the Redwood County Wildlife Event on February 10. This event will include Cloverbud programs and wildlife hours for Shooting Sport and Wildlife 4-H members. Registration will be available soon.

Don't miss out on the 4-H state leadership conference! Youth Exploring Leadership and Learning Opportunities (YELLO) will take place June 12 - 15, 2024. YELLO is open to youth in grades 7+. It’s a great way to learn, build leadership skills, and make new friends! Learn more.
Mental Health Sessions
Let’s Talk about Mental Health is a five-session series designed to provide a safe place for youth to have important conversations about mental health and wellbeing. This series demonstrates to youth that they are valued and welcomed by 4-H and gives all youth the tools to be supportive and effective.
