Week of November 11th - 15th
A Note From Your Principal
Hi Wonderful McKinley Families,
We had a wonderful week of "Re-do's" Due to our time off we missed some beloved events. The teachers sprang into action and created a wonderful week of redo's, We had wonderful presentations in Spanish class. I watched as students presented their Dia De Los Muertos altars and in Spanish reported to their class. I was able to attend the wonderful mall in Mrs. Acquistapace's class where students made, sold and presented their own products. My favorite part was the commercials they created on their IPADs we definitely have some future entrepreneurs. We rounded the week out with our wonderful Halloween parade and parties. The kids were very happy having a chance to wear their costumes and celebrate.
-Flu info. This is the time of year when we see increased Influenza (flu), and other respiratory infections, such as Pertussis (whooping cough) in our schools and community.
Respiratory infections, such as the flu, pertussis, and common colds (colds), are spread when people come in close contact with sick people and inhale airborne droplets or come in contact with contaminated surfaces.
It is important to know what symptoms may indicate a more serious infection, such as pertussis or the flu vs. a common cold because of possibly serious complications. Check this chart to learn about differences.
Remember, and remind your student, that frequent handwashing is the most effective way to prevent infections. It is also useful to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or coughing into your sleeve, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth, sharing cups or eating utensils, etc.
For more useful tips, check this PCS document.

The Maker Space needs donations!
Can’t volunteer your time but still would love to be part of this project? This is for you! The maker space is in need of some donations so our students can keep creating.
We are in need of: paper rolls (toilet paper or paper towel), liquid glue, glue sticks, #2 pencils, sewing needles, tape (regular, decorated, ducktape), cardboard (please cut up boxes and bring in flat), sequins, beads… Please do not bring any more yarn or plastic containers.
