IMLEA Monday Minute

April 16, 2018

It seems like no matter how you schedule testing, all classes are impacted one way or another. One of the things that I like about this article by Curtis Chandler in MiddleWeb is that it has suggestions of some "quick hits" for several subject areas. Many of them are apps you might already be familiar with, some might be ones you want to use again later, some may be listed under one subject area but can be used by others.

Conference information can be found on our special site, or linked on the IMLEA website. Here is a direct link to submit a session proposal. You may also register now.

Special note: To keep registration costs low for all, we do not offer discounts, but if presenters are not a member (or part of a member school/district), we will let them register at the early bird member rate.

Create a Google Logo for Earth Day

Students have the opportunity to create their own Google logo for Earth Day using the programming language Scratch. More details, instructions, and examples on this page. (This could also be a good after-testing activity.)

Google Applied Digital Skills Workshop in Chicago April 24

I attended this workshop when it was held in Indianapolis. The digital skills curriculum could be integrated into several different classes. One of the trainers told me the deadline was extended, and the form now says to sign up by April 18. Plus, it's a chance to visit Google Chicago! More info here.

Indiana's Summer of eLearning Events

Big picture

Once again, the Summer of eLearning has a great lineup; Indiana is the envy of other states for the speakers who are brought in. And, most cost $25 and under per day (or are free) Many still have their request for proposals still open.
I've seen most of the keynotes, and look forward to seeing some of them for the first time, and some of them again.

Congratulations to Lowell MS & Jennings County MS
