week of academic celebration

Last week was CHS’s week of academic celebrations. During 2016 Awards Night, students, staff and families lauded the accomplishments of freshmen, sophomores and juniors earning top five percent recognition and/or receiving department awards. At Wednesday’s Senior Scholarship Night, counselors and college reps recognized seniors for their strong academics and achievement of scholarships. Congratulations to the CHS Class of 2016 for earning over $36 million in scholarship offers as of last week.

Finally, 750 students participated in the Principal’s Honors Scholar Celebration during both lunches on Thursday. Students earning a cumulative 3.5 GPA and meeting specific criteria for involvement in Honors, AP, and IB courses received certificates, cookies, ice cream, and State Forty Eight Honors Scholar t-shirts.

Kaden Dawson - AP Photography

Kaden Dawson, a junior in Mr. Burget’s AP Photography class, won 2nd place in Photography on April 30


at the 2016 Congressional Art Competition for Arizona's Congressional District 9. His winning photograph will hang for one year in the office of Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema. Congratulations, Kaden!

Congratulations to the AVID Seniors who were celebrated at last week’s AVID Graduation/Pinning Ceremony. These graduates will attend college with the tools and practices they have gained through the program. The AVID curriculum is designed to help students fulfill their potential: academic instruction, tutorial support, and motivational activities that will help keep each student on track.

Additional congratulations to the following AVID Students of the Year: Angel Canales (9), Katelin Weber (9), Diego Zegarra (10), Vanessa Montero (11), and Jonathan Idiarte (12).

An opportunity to host foreign exchange students is available for families of Chandler High. Forte International Exchange is looking for families for the 2016~2017 school year and have students available from all over the globe. This is an excellent opportunity to exchange culture, expand your family's horizons, and help make another student's (American) dream come true! If you or someone you know is interested, please send an e-mail to Forte International Exchange is a non-profit organization sanctioned by the U.S. Dept of State in the placement and supervision of foreign exchange students from over 60 countries.

  • May 18 Last day to pay debts in the Bookstore, return athletic gear, pay for stoles, etc. You may check out earlier than exam days if you have everything done!

The purpose of WOLF Days is to distribute 2016-17 schedules, take student I.D. pictures, and pay for any fees. Please keep these dates in mind when scheduling vacations. WOLF Days takes place in the CHS Media Center.

Seniors - July 13th - 8:00 AM-3:00 PM

Juniors - July 14th - 8:00 AM-3:00 PM

Sophomores - July 15th - 8:00 AM-3:00 PM
