Week 7 Remote Learning Activities
Announcements
I want to send a heartfelt thank you to you all for agreeing to donate the remainder of the class funds to communities in need. The room parents and I thought it would be a fun idea for students to learn about 3 local organizations and choose 1 to donate to. I shared the following presentation with students on Thursday. Students have voted for their organization and I will reveal the winner at our morning meeting. Stay tuned!
Weekly Mini Chat Sign Ups
Week 7 Creativity Challenge
I will introduce the task today in our whole class meeting. Students can work on their creation any time from Monday to Thursday. They will have the opportunity to show their classmates their creation at Thursday's whole group meeting. I will share the document below with students (I will post it in Google Classroom). I have also attached it here for your reference. Please note, this is meant to be an optional fun challenge and not a mandatory activity. Students can still participate in our virtual meeting without completing the challenge.
Staying Connected
The Bridge school counselors recently shared this Meaningful May action calendar (see link below). Each day in May has a different task for both kids/adults.
Featured Resources
Literacy: Flippity
- cvc patterns
- glued sounds
- ch vs tch ending
- k vs ck endings
- closed exceptions
- silent e
- suffix
- doubling
- open syllables
- y as a vowel
- multisyllable words
- soft 'c' and soft 'g'
You will see multiple lists for each spelling pattern. List #1 are single syllable words and list #2 are multi-syllable words (using the same pattern). Students can pick and choose any list to practice.
Math: Math Before Bed
Each prompt on this site shows you and your child a challenging problem. At times there is one right answer and other times there are many right answers. The purpose of each question is to generate a discussion about how you determined an answer. If students find one answer, encourage them to try to find another.
