Happy New Year Alt Ed!

I cannot believe that we are officially halfway through the 2022-2023 school year! It has been amazing to see all of the awesome work being done at both Del Amigo and Venture students and staff. Again I want to send my appreciation to everyone for their support and understanding as we transitioned this year to a course-based model. I truly believe it will offer our students the ability to access greater education and higher level instruction.

I wanted to send a shout-out to our Del Amigo Credit Crusher Royalty! These students have high academic honors in our program and are earning credits towards graduation. We are super proud. The GP4 Del Amigo credit royalty are: Kalvyn Demson, Alexandria Fajardo, Jett Nelson, Farrah Oyumi and Samantha Vaughn! I also wanted to celebrate our first two Class of 2023 graduates as well - JT Rhodes and Samantha Vaughn. Again, we are so proud of these students and are excited to see their successes beyond high school! Our Del Amigo community celebrated these achievements today during our Credit Crusher workshop!

Venture Honor Roll students are being calculated and will be shared in our next newsletter. Certificates will also be given to all of those students. I can’t wait to share this with our larger community.

Lastly, Venture is preparing for our WASC visit at the end of February. WASC is the national accreditation process that certifies that school are allowed to award diplomas. This is very important for our school community. Staff is working hard to submit our report and continue to implement systems and practices that meet the academic and social emotional needs of our students. I will be reaching out to Venture parents to ask for their participation in a stakeholder focus group during the visit. It will be virtual. This is for input on the Venture high school program only. If you are interested in participating please let us know. We would be happy to have your input during this process. Please reach out to our office manager Dennice Barnes at if you are interested.

Again I am looking forward to a wonderful remainder of the school year.

Cheers to 2023!

Lynsie Castellano, Principal

Counselors Corner

Happy New Year 2023!!

It's exciting to be starting the 2nd 1/2 of the school year. I've been asking students what a new year's INTENTION is? Any change in behaviors that aren't healthy for us can lead us in new directions. Resolutions can often feel so overwhelming. Try starting with an intention. HERE are some ideas on intentions and how to incorporate them into our lives.

What: Starting in the 2022-23 academic school year, high schools and school districts (Local Educational Agencies) will need to ensure that all 12th graders in the state of California complete a FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application, unless the student has formally submitted an opt-out waiver. The goal of “All In for FAFSA/CA Dream Act” is to expand access to financial aid to thousands of students who may have otherwise not been aware of these opportunities. California Assembly Bill 132

Who: All seniors must complete the FAFSA or Dream Act Application. Check here to learn which application applies to you. Students of all income levels applying to all types of post-secondary programs need to apply. Many colleges require the FAFSA or Dream Act Application for merit based scholarships or even to be able to participate in different programs at the colleges. FAFSA or the Dream Act Application is not only for students who intend to apply for need-based scholarships or grants.

How: Go to the online FAFSA Application or CA Dream Act Application.

*To be prepared for your online application, complete this FAFSA on the web worksheet or CA Dream Act worksheet

What will I need to fill out the Dream Act Application or FAFSA®?

  • Your Social Security Number (if you have one)

  • Your Alien Registration number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)

  • Your federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned. (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA® form using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)

  • Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)

  • Records of untaxed income (if applicable)

  • An FSA ID (for FAFSA) so you can electronically sign the FAFSA® form

We will be checking our account later this spring as to which students still need to complete the FAFSA.

Thank you.

Leadership San Ramon Valley Education Days

DEL AMIGO and VENTURE High School Only: As part of Leadership San Ramon Valley's Education Day, we are looking for a student panel to speak to community members about their current experience as a High School Student in our District on March 2, 2023. We are asking for at least 1, and at most 2 students from each High School. It is important to us that we have a diverse panel of experiences, including not only demographically, but also in terms of student achievement and experience. We would really love representation for both our schools. If you are interested in participating please contact to sign up.

Call for High School Meal Experience Ambassadors for Workshop

We are recruiting high school students to join us for at least one workshop where we’ll gather design feedback on the school meals program as well as taste testings. Last spring of 2022, students, staff, parents, and caregivers designed a new vision for the school meal experience. This year is the first year of implementing that new vision, and we want to gather feedback on how the year is going. Student submission form.

Please post this image on your school websites and newsletters.
