West Weekly Update
Volume 12, Issue 12, 11/7/21
From the desk of Mr. Jolliffe
Staff – Welcome to brighter mornings and darker afternoons. Change is hard on all of us and Monday will be no different with our students. Your energy and quality lesson plans will drive whether or not your kids struggle or persevere. West requires you to bring your passion and best teaching every day. Over the next few weeks, administration, support staff and district staff will be in the building conducting WICOR walkthroughs. This observation process does not record teacher names and is meant to gather an overall picture of WICOR use in the building. We will be discussing the WICOR results you provided last Wednesday during CLC’s at the faculty meeting on Tuesday. NOTE – The faculty meeting will start promptly at 7:20AM and 3:25PM in the auditorium. It pays to read the West Weekly and I hope you read this and save yourself a few minutes in the morning.
We are three weeks into the second quarter and grades must be posted. If you have students with D’s and F’s you need to have documented contact with the parents. They need to know their kids are risking not earning the credit for your class.
Veteran’s Day – Please spend some time this week explaining or showing some appropriate videos of the “Why” behind Veteran’s Day. Our students deserve to know why they have the day off. Thank you to all the veteran’s on our staff, in our families and across our great country.
We now have the following ways for your students to get assistance on their work:
- After School Tutoring 3:30-5:00 – Mon, Tues, Thurs in F4 and Wednesday in cafeteria
- Revolution Prep – Expectation is you have had your AT kids log-in and make an appointment
***Available during the week 8AM-10PM, weekends 9AM-6PM - Homework Helpline – Mon-Thursday – 3:30-7:30PM – 973-4411
If you have students that need WIFI, direct them to the website and the parent tab. Click on the tab and the WIFI Hotspot sign-off link is available for both parents and students to complete. Jen will get these out to the students once both parties complete the documents.
Professional Accountability - We have ongoing duties beyond teaching that are required to be completed in a timely fashion. Please make sure you are completing the following tasks:
- · Read your email – This is still the preferred method of sharing building expectations.
- · Have you entered your grades in a timely manner? Your students and parents rely on grade entry as feedback to make decisions on their academic performance.
- · IEP paperwork
- · Arrive to work by 7:50AM and leave after 3:20PM
- · Perform your duty as expected.

PD Information from Mrs. Traylor
No PD this week! I will be available during PD hours on Wednesday if you have any questions or concerns.
CLC this week is planning time. You are able to plan with your department here at the school or with another school via TEAMS or plan on your own. I am also available to help with planning.
I plan to do some class room observations on Monday and Tuesday. Please continue to teach. I will be looking for instructional strategies used in the classroom. If there is a particular hour that you would like for me to see send me an e-mail and I will do my best to make it happen.
