My Presentation
My presentation will be about video games from 1958 and on. There will also be comparison of the games back then to now. :)
The Past
The first video game ever was founded in 1958 by William Higinbotham called "Tennis for Two"(Chodos, Tretkoff, Quellette, Ramlagan Aps.org). In 1972, Nolan Bushnell created Atari(Brittanica). Also in 1972, Atari made their first VERY popular game pong, the coin operated version came out in 1972, the home console version came out in 1974(Cohen About Tech). In 1978, some of the most popular games came out such as, Space Invaders, Asteroids, Defender, Missile Command, Centpede, and Donkey Kong. Plus, sports and card game simulators(Brittanica). Handhelds came out in 1977-78 those being Mattel's LED based games(Brittanica).
The Present
"Watch Dogs" is a first person shooter that takes players to an alternative version of Chicago where the city's infrastructure is controlled by a massive computer(Fourman Chicago Tribune). "Destiny" is also a first person shooter that takes players through the solar system at the speed of light. You fight different races, the vex, the fallen, the cabal, and the hive.
Wrap Up
As you can see, video games have changed a lot. It used to be arcade games with never ending levels, and now it's people simulating robots running around shooting aliens with energy rifles.
