NAU MAI HAERE MAI
Hello, Kia ora, Chomreabsour, Mālo ni, Ni hao, Kia orāna, Talofa lava, Namaste, Hola, Hallo, Chào bạn, Bula Vinaka, Kumusta, Guten Tag, Mālō e lelei , An-nyeong-ha-se-yo, greetings to all our School Families.
From the Principal’s Desk
Kia ora tatou,
Week 2 has concluded with our Winter Olympics Mufti Day Fundraiser. We thank everyone for getting in behind the Winter Olympic team. It was great to see all the smiley faces and array of colour across the school.
Today in Assembly we celebrated the achievements of a group of our students who have achieved significantly on the National Stage. Stanley Avenues’ Digital Technology success has continued on from last term where we were Waikato Regional winners for EPRO8 and now are National category winners in the Junior Online Robocup Competition. As a school we are extremely proud of these achievements and are fortunate to have the teaching expertise of Mrs Harrison to provide the opportunities for our students in these areas. As a school we are gaining a reputation for Digital Technologies success. Well done Team Stanley!
I would like to say a big thank you to our school families who have got onboard by downloading the Hero App. Week 3 will be the last week for push notifications being sent out on our old Stanley Avenue App. Communication via our hero app will be more user friendly for both school and community alike and aligns with our strategic goal of ‘increasing engagement with our school ‘whānau’.
We wish our New Zealand athletes competing at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games every success and take inspiration from their hard mahi, dedication and strive to succeed attitude!
Ngā mihi nui

Japanese students visit Stanley Ave.
私たちの学校へようこそ Welcome to our School
Watashitachi no gakkō e yōkoso
On Thursday we welcomed a group of Japanese students and their teacher to our school.
These students are being hosted by Te Aroha College, and spent the morning in classes from Tui, Pukeko and Piwakawaka. They spent their time doing a variety of activities with our students including games, singing, drawing, reading and dancing.
The students really enjoyed their morning with us and it is lovely to be able to share some of our learning and activities with them.
2022 squash Results
This year we had another great group of Year 7 & 8 students that took on the challenge of learning to play the game of squash. They showed dedication with their weekly learning and training and then a brave group of them put their names down to play in the tournament.
We held the tournament on Monday and they were vying for the Boys and the Girls Cup as well as the honour of being the overall place getters (Boys/Girls mixed).
What a great day of squash with some hard fought battles! Congratulations to the following students:
Overall 1st Place - Charlotte Ryan
2nd Place -Xavier van Kuijk
3rd Place - Jeremiah Collier-Tilsley
Girls 1st Place - Charlotte Ryan
2nd Place - McKenzie Horner
3rd Place - Arden Sutherland
Boys 1st Place - Xavier van Kuijk
2nd Place - Jeremiah Collier-Tilsley
3rd Place - Calleb King.
A huge thank you must go to the Te Aroha Squash Club for letting us play at the courts. They are always so supportive and helpful.

Saturday Netball 2022
This was the final day for our Year 1 -6 netballers, with prizegiving after the games. Our Year 1-4 players were given goody bags and everyone else took home a spot prize of some sort during the morning thanks to wonderful sponsors. There was lots of fun and laughter all over the Te Aroha Netball Courts, and it was a pleasure to see so many smiley faces enjoying our wonderful game. Our Year 7/8 Teal team came away as second round Runners up after some very competitive games.
Our Year 7/8, Blue and Teal teams were supposed to carry on for 3 weeks into Term 3, but unfortunately due to illness these games have been cancelled, so that is the 2022 Netball season done and dusted!
Stanley Ave had a lot of new players in our teams this year, some playing for the first time ever, so the learning curve was a steep one. It was very pleasing to see such improvement in these players and the wonderful comradery and Stanley Ave 'Strive to Succeed' attitude that enabled them to learn the game whilst competing on Saturdays.
A huge thank you to our Coaches, Managers and Umpires. Without you all, our students would be unable to participate, and although these are often thankless jobs, we are indeed, very thankful for your support and guidance throughout the season.
Also a big shout out to the Te Aroha Netball Committee. This is a small but hardworking bunch, who give up their time week in and week out, before, after and during the netball season, attending meetings, managing registrations, upkeeping the courts, organising umpires and draws...the list is endless. Thank you ladies. Your time and efforts are much appreciated and does not go unnoticed.
Lastly, congratulations to all our budding Silver Ferns on another great season.
Don't forget to keep watching our Silver Ferns at the Commonwealth Games. One day ...this could be you!!!
Go the Silver Ferns!!!!

All you need to do is purchase any of the Yummy apple varieties and bring the stickers to school! Alternatively, if you purchase a bag of these apples, send the cut out from the bag to school.
Every point counts!
