Severe Weather - What We Do to Prepare
Each semester we conduct a severe weather drill with our staff and students and this past week we participated in a tornado drill on March 9 - very timely after Monday's severe weather in our area. Staff members take our students to designated safe areas in the building and have them assume a crouched positions, covering their heads with their hands. We take roll and await further instructions from our building principals until an "all clear" is given. In the event of an actual severe weather situation during the school day, the District would call and text all parent/guardian numbers listed in our database via our School Messenger system to provide timely updates on the emergency situation.
Parent Advisory Group- Members Needed
On April 18, 5:30-7:30pm our district will host our annual Stakeholder Feedback Evening. This evening is designed to provide parents with information about topics relevant to their child's education, and also to engage in rich dialogue regarding ways that we can improve our school.
The format for the night will include two sessions: 1) District Strategic Focus Area Innovations Highlights (presentation), and 2) Focus Groups at Tables (tables will be arranged by building and will be facilitated by an administrator).
I would really like to secure 20 parents to attend that evening. If you are available please send me and email at mcclurej@platteco.k12.mo.us . Siegrist has a great reputation for participating in school improvement practices and I would like to maintain this great tradition. We will even feed you dinner :)

WatchDOGS at Siegrist
Here is some more information about the Watchdogs program if you are interested in serving as a Watchdog: Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) are fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or other male figures who volunteer for a whole or half day and serve as a positive male role model at Siegrist. Their presence helps to provide a safe and caring environment for our students. The WatchDOG of the day is announced in the morning, they take a picture with their child to be displayed on our watchdogs bulletin board (in the gym hallway), and receive their schedule for the day. This schedule will also be emailed to staff members prior to their arrival. To sign up to volunteer for a half day or full day, please use the following link: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/30E0F44A9AA2CA57-siegrist
