The Seahawk Circular
November 2021
A Letter From Your Principal
Happy November! We at Nimitz/STEM have a ton to be thankful for! We are seeing our students make progress in the classrooms, attendance is improving, and the community as a whole is coming together to make a difference in the lives of our Seahawks. We have a busy November ahead of us and quickly find ourselves working hard these last two months of 2021.
Once again, our amazing PTSA is working on a project to make Thanksgiving a little better for everyone by providing Thanksgiving meals to those who need them. You can read more about that later in the newsletter. Please don't forget that student pictures are taking place on November 12th. Students will have free dress on this day so that they can look their best for their pictures. Order forms have been sent home with your student.
I wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving. Enjoy some football (Go Cowboys!) and love on your friends and families. It's a great day to be a Seahawk!
Best Wishes,
Jennifer Cooper
Principal, Nimitz STEM

Redistricting
In November and December, North East ISD will engage in a redistricting process for its Board of Trustee single member districts. Redistricting involves changing the single member district boundaries used for trustee elections. There will be no impact on any of our school attendance boundaries.
NEISD is making changes to the single member districts because the Texas Education Code requires a school district to redistrict if data shows existing single member districts have a population deviation of more than 10 percent between the most and least populous district. Census data, gathered every ten years, is what is used to determine those population changes.
Based on the 2020 Census population totals, NEISD single member district 6 as it exists today is now the most populous district, and NEISD single member district 3 is the least populous. The deviation between the two of these is 29.8 percent so redistricting is needed to balance the single member districts as required by the Texas Education Code.
You are invited to review two proposals for single member district maps and provide your input through a short survey. You may do this through the district’s website at neisd.net/redistricting or at a public meeting listed below. Current, outgoing single member district maps are also available through the website and at public meetings for comparison. The survey will be open through November 12, 2021.

Estimado Padre,

In the News!
Nimitz/STEM NJHS makes waves at the San Antonio Food Bank
"Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope." This is the motto of the San Antonio Food Bank, where the members of STEM/Nimitz NJHS members volunteered on November 2nd.
In just 3 hours, NJHS students managed to sort over 34,000 pounds of food which equals 11,874 meals for thousands of families all over Texas.
“The trip was fun and it was cool to see everybody working together.” said by Sughey Galvez, one of the eighth grade members.
Says seventh grader Evan Newman, "I thought that it was pretty awesome, getting to see the ways that they get to supply food for people who need it. Just getting to see the ways people can help others get food was pretty cool. Helping out was really satisfying."
“Getting to know how many families we get to help out is really important to the NJHS community because we enjoy that we are able to give our time and service to families in need and seeing how we can help the community “, said by Nova Leza, the chapter's historian.
