Milton Hershey

1. Milton Hershey was born in a little town in Pennsylvania, but he and his family moved around a lot. Moving from town to town in Pennsylvania wasn't good for Milton since he wasn't a very good student in the first place.

2. Milton's family encouraged him to learn a trade so he started working for a newspaper editor and later worked in a candy store.


3. After many years of failure, Hershey's success finally came from making Crystal A caramels.

4. After selling his Caramel Company for one million dollars, Hershey decided to specialize in making one chocolate bar. In 1900, the Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar was introduced.

5. Hershey decided to build a town surrounding the factory for his workers to live in. The town included such things like an amusement park, a golf course, and a library. He also built an orphanage for boys.
6. Hershey created a Field Ration D chocolate bar to provide emergency food for soldiers.
