Classroom News!
Happy May Day! We decorated our yellow spring crowns with tissue flowers and learned about the tradition of the maypole dance. We took our maypole outside, put on our crowns and danced around it holding the colorful ribbons. Some of the other classes came to watch us and clapped as we moved to the rhythm of the music. Thank you to the parents who helped us with treats and materials for our party.
On Monday we read the story of "The Big Orange Splot" by Daniel Pinkwater. It was about a man named Mr. Plumbean who created his dream house. After we read the story, the children were given the opportunity to design their own dream houses on paper and the results were both colorful and unique.
With dancing, stories and flan we celebrated Cinco De Mayo in style! Gracias to Mr. Luna for dancing with us and reading to us in Spanish.

Poem of the Week
Wake Up!
In the country
Everyone knows
It's morning when
The rooster crows.
But the city's
A different matter!
You're sure to hear
Garbage cans clatter.
Taxis toot.
Buses roar.
A paper slap
Against your door
Country or city,
Morning sounds say,
Wake up! Here comes
Another day!
